North Central Colorado

Yesterday, I took a run over to Johnstown, Co. before the snow came in.

This area is a major hub of the overall route. A couple miles east of here is Milliken, featuring an interchange yard between GW and UP.

One thing I like about Johnstown, are the aging agricultural/ industrial structures. with many dating back to the earlier 1900's.

Hey Deane,

If you're still looking for new challenging structures to create, try this one. I won't mind at all if you get a head start. :)

It was kinda crazy weather for playing baseball, but I'm impressed that the Johnstown ballpark has lights now.

Cool pics there Jim! Nice to see some shots of other areas of your route and also trackside photos from the real world.

Thanks for sharing!

Very nice as usuall Jim.
I like the rural setting that those last shots take on. Seems there is a nice variation in industry on this route. I like that. I've been working on several routes these past months. Its good to refresh myself and look at yours, it has so much progress every time I look at it! Feel like a snail here...

Oh yea.......rub it in........

I think she likes Wisconsin a little better.
This is a different ballpark than the one from the pics from last summer. The one you're talking about is over in La Salle by the UP yard. :)

Hey Woody, I know what you mean about feeling like a snail.
Good news is that I'm starting to pick up speed. Now I'm going like a herd of turtles.

Here's an old signal box along the branch "Railway Signal Co. Rochester, NY"

Nice detail as usall Jim.
I like the custom sign on that last picture! It makes the route very authentic.
I also see you have equiped the layout with Slavedrivers new ballast hoppers, mmm mmm those are nice! It seems to be very dry there, I always pictured it to be lush and fertile like it is here in Tennessee. But that is out west.
"Herd of Turtles".
March on Jim! March On!

Thanks Woody and Bryan.

The humidity out here is really low most of the year. Even Central Nebraska and eastern Kansas are lush in comparison. This route's setting is early fall, and August / September can be very dry months in this region.

Down the road a little bit....someday... I want to do the same area in the winter. The texturing should be much easier :)

Not a problem Jim. I like complimenting great work when I see it. Some winter bits on your route eh? That'd be a great late Spring thing with patches of melting snow. I guess I'm saying that because I think we're going to finally see the last of this year's snow here. Just a thought though for you.

I agree with IC; and I've said it before, your attention to detail is astounding and sure does make it feel more like real life than a simulation. That signal box for example and as IC pointed out, the sign.

The Three Stooges right here!

It seems as though we have three regular posters here,
Jim (of course) Bryan, and myself.
A.K.A
The Three Stooges of Trainz:hehe:
Did you make the track yourself? Where can I get the crossing signals at?

Thanks,
Woody

Amazing work Jim,This is one spectacular looking route!:udrool: Keep up the great work! Now did you make/reskin a lot of the scenery yourself?

Thanks for the feedback as I blow the dust off of this thread.

I've had some problems with the backrop placement, due to trying to accommodate a UP line that runs a few miles up to the north west of Fort Collins.

I ended up redoing the all mountains at a much larger scale and pushing them further west to their natural location. Visibility remains good for the Front Range Flatirons along the BNSF subdisivion with the good weather option set to "0".

Now moving south on the spur toward the Hydra Warehouse.

These tracks dead end on a backroad featuring a variety of accommodations for travelers. You've got the Econo Lodge, Motel 6, Super 8, along with a Denny's Restaurant, Waffle House, and Burger King.

Always doing their part to help beautify Colorado,
the Super 8 here is first class all the way.

Mechanical clutter behind the warehouse.

Wow, great work as usual there Jim! I really like your Super 8 comment. EDIT ADD: I also wanted to say I really REALLY look forward to seeing updates and pics of your route!

:hehe:

The attention to detail as I've probably mentioned before is just top-notch! And if I haven't mentioned it...well there you go.

:)

Thanks for another update Jim.
The scene with the hotel and warehouses look very realistic.
I know how much of a apin moving stuff like mountains is but in the end, well you can move mountains building a route!
Keep up the good work,
Woody

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated!

Same area at twilight.

I'll pass on Burger King. Where's a Sonic?
