Noobmountain & Western WIP (medium-sized pics)

Awesome route every time i check out this topic its looking better and better. keep up the good work...

"Anyone got suggestions or intimate knowledge of what it takes to make engines?"

If your talking Automotive, Iron, steel , Aluminum. or u mean new assets as in Locomotives?

"Intimate" knowlege ? You can not simply mate engines, they will not procreate !
Not a simple process ! GMax and other highly entailed software is used, in place of the birds & the bees, in Trainz engine making.

The route is starting to look great, though, looks like a model RR.

That last shot on the first page looks good.
If i was driving that loco over that bridge, I'd be going a 5mph hanging on to whatever i could!:hehe:

again that is amazing, that shot with a bridge above the Virginian line is outstanding as well!

Hey folks, thank you all for your comments! Just keep it coming.

:)

I should have put it more specific, I meant AUTOMOBILE engines! And what Trainz-included goods I could put in, besides aluminium and steel.

:p

It was late and I was like 27hs awake...

@simulatotrain:
Try looking for makejar´s kuid2:56063:101126:1 and kuid2:56063:101126:2. Those are two nice N&W boxcars.

@cascaderailroad:
Yeah, that´s right, it looks like a MRR....
That´s a problem, when you´re not using DEMs.... At least I have a problem with the height-configuration. And I´m more of a MRR-fanatic than actual railfan...

But on the "Hey, so what"-Side I can node that it´s all WIP, it´s my first attempt, it´s made to bring me fun and it fits my demands. And I´ve never seen Appalachia myself since I´m from germany. It´s kinda difficult to create a feeling for a region which I never saw.

Therefore I think it´s good enough... At least I´ve seen worst.
By the way, a "Whats good enough to bring it to the DLS"-thread is needed!

:)

Two pics to show that I don´t give it up yet.

Tonight I was editing a first complete session.
A Local turn down from Calonia down the mountain branch.
Some switching, which ate up 3hs...
Zang, where´s my time?!
:D

Mitch, the bridge for you again.

@simulatortrain:
Hmm, then I must have missed something. I´m gonna look it up again.

Hi again!

I´m seriously delayed, got some ugly trojan horses, which kept me from working on.
So here are 3 shots to show you that I´m not dead yet and the project is still alive.

Nothing special, a 2000something tons Local which gets pushed up the branchline to Calonia.

I´ll post some better ones when I´ve made progress.
:-)

OUTSTANDING....SO MUCH SO....THAT I'M PRACTICALLY SPEECHLESS.

OH MY GOSH! This route looks like something based off the Norfolk & Western and the Virginian Railways. I guess its free lanced, off the two carriers. But, I must admit I never saw anything based off both the N&W and VGN quite like it before. Just one question, are the articulated steam locomotives based off the Norfolk & Western class A 2-6-6-4s or the class Y 2-8-8-2s?

Hey, thank you very much for your comment!
This will keep me motivated to work on.
:-)

Actually, I use BOTH, A- & Y-Class-Locos. You can get them at Paulz Trainz
(http://www.paulztrainz.myenet.info/inside/inside.htm) if you like.

The route is totally freelance and based more on the N&W than on the Virginian. Until now, the scene with the Virginian trains is merely scenic.
But maybe I´ll extend it further to connect them somewhere.
First I´ll have to scenic what´s there and then I´ll see.
:)
Thanks again!

looks good, that must take alot of work trying to detail the route perfectly the first time anyway, keep up the good work!;)

What you would need is a large Fernice, mold and a very BIG assembly line.
:hehe:

Cityscapes and why I hate them!

This is my "Central Station" and the area surrounding it.

Takes so much time to get something looking good.
And I have to made up around 120 boards, without the extensions I´ve got in mind....

Maybe, if some of you like this system when it´s done, I´ll made some more extensions of it.
Have to find out how to get them to merge nice.

Some more, with trains on it to get the right relations.

Avern Junction, interlocking tower & level-crossing with C&O main.

A mine-shifter in the background waits to get permission to roll out to the mountain branch.
With just 30 cars it seems to have an easy time.

Meanwhile we enter "Central Station".

So here we go again.

Some pics which I made to show parts of the layout, which are to ~50% done.
I think I will not overdetail it, so that everybody can set up more details as their systems are up to it.

Part 1.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Today:
Mineshifter 10210 from Downtown Yard to Calonia Yard

Objectives:
-proceed to Consolidation Jct, take siding track 3.
-load cut 1 at Consolidation Mine Shaft 1, Loader 2.
-leave cut 1 at mine.
-proceed with cut 2 to Consolidation Mine 5.
-load cut 2 at Consolidation Mine Shaft 5, Loader 1.
-return to Consolidation Jct, siding track 3.
-pickup cut 1.
-proceed to Calonia Yard, track 5.

Downtown Yard, we embark our train.
Today a light 4-8-2 is assigned, the more usual M-Class seems to be occupied somewhere else.
Cut 1 are 15 hoppers, Cut 2 too, plus cab.
The hoppers came with the nightly Through 102 from Calonia, where they were weighted before.
Easy going today.
Trains of up to 60 cars are the rule on the Mountain Branch.

1z3tq9f.jpg

After a long string of hoppers pulled by two Y-Classes passed by, we get a clear and head out.

After passing Stockmanns Elevator and Harbor Junction, ...

... and branching off of the main, we reach Consolidation Jct...

... and enter our siding.

We make a run-around and strip off the cab.

Our firemen grumps something about over-payed trackplanners and proposed switching-lead lenghts....

After setting out the cab, we pull Cut 1 into the drill track...

...and push´em to Loader 2 and load ´em with Quarter-and-inch-minus coal.
