PO&N To Close Famous "Circle Line"
As of January 3, 2012, the Port Ogden And Northern railroad is closing it's famous "circle line" through Splatter, Port Ogden, and Saint Mary's.
The line will now act as a branch from Splatter Jct. (on the main from Chicago to Easton), to St. Mary's.
St. Mary's this morning:

The route is a rework of Chicago Metro 3 by Sniper297.
The NS Shirley Industrial District will still be built, just at a slower pace because I find it more boring, and I won't post very many shots until I have parts of it nearly complete.

Chicago Metro Builds New Roundhouse!
With the purchase of 6 Fairbanks-Morse H-16-44 "Baby Trainmasters", the Chicago Metro railroad built a new roundhouse to hold them all.

The roundhouse is also large enough to hold the Alco RSD-12's the railroad is expecting shortly.

It is located at Grand Crossing Jct, just outside of Grand Crossing yard.

Again, this IS a re-work, credit Sniper297 for most of what you see. I will be doing standardization of the tracks and updating textures later.

There is a new railroad in town: The Belt Railway of Chicago. The line will run from Barr Yard down by the stockyards to 16th St. Yard, near the line of the old BRC, which was absorbed by the Chicago Metro.
On this map, the line is indicated in black, industrial areas are purple, yard are pink, and trackage rights are yellow.

What's really funny is until about 1970 there were two morning papers, the Chicago Sun Times and the Chicago Tribune, along with two afternoon papers, the Chicago American - and the Chicago Daily News. When TV news in the after work slot got more popular the afternoon papers quietly died.

Looking over that map, what you should do is extend the Soo Line down to Port Ogden. I'm looking over other ideas at the moment, makeover for the switches primarily, but for some reason the AI traffic patterns that worked flawlessly a year ago have gone psycho now.

Well, in my version the PO&N owns the Soo Line, so that would actually make a lot of sense. I'm totally re-doing the AI, and there is an iPortal that lets a player train run from Splatter Jct. to Easton. It doesn't support AI, though, so what ill do is make the PO&N AI traffic a big circle, Soo-GC-Wicker Park-Goose Island-CB&Q-PO&N-Soo.

Now we got a problem, anyone have any idea how to get a track 10M up from the road to the embankment? :hehe:

Most people use a ramp rather than a freight elevator. :hehe: Add another baseboard south of the Soo Line stub, stretch a long single track from the end of the stub down to the ground, adjust gradient as desired.

Blake Drive closing!
Blake Drive, and the buildings along it will be permanently closed south of Sniper St.
You can see why.

This is the view from the railroad line.

It may be an 8 percent grade, but it works. I'll just need a LOT of engines.
:hehe:

Or to be more accurate I'm clearing space for it. :P

Of course, it can't be called douglas park without a park so:

Now working on Douglas Park North. Douglas Park South can be seen in the background.

From here the track will continue north and connect with the track in the upper left.

I was filming a video of the new section of the route to show you guys, but my sound conked out halfway through. :(
It's not the computer because the sound in Minecraft works just fine, so i don't really know what happened.
Anyone know why this would happen?

I'm going to stick to pictures, because QuickTime causes lag when doing screen recordings.
Anyway, testing new AI traffic patterns now.
