Indiana Harbor Belt *Warning Large Pics*

Did alot of work yesterday, finished most of the track south to the junction with the NS (EX NKP chicago district), also added basemaps and the mainline west past Gibson yard, to the 2nd crossing of the Chicago District at Hohman.

Scenery on the North/south "Kankakee Line" portion is coming along quite nicely. :D

Once you finish the entire line can you make the ns from cp502 to pine and the csx from pine to blue island so they can be operated on as part of the layout?

ShayNo7 ,

Sorry for bumping a somewhat old thread. I usually do not post, but when I saw this thread my jaw dropped ! You sir and I are making almost the exact same routes. :Y: I know this is a Trainz forum and all, and I own both Trainz and Railworks, they both have something to offer. If you or anyone else wants to take a look how your / our routes are rendered in TS2013, take a gander at the following pages... Its all there, Blue Island, Dolton, Gibson, Grasseli, Calumet, Hick, Pine and so on.

Now folks, easy easy now. I am here out of respect for mr ShayNo7, he does great work ! I say that because I know how much work he`s got in store for him. Luckily im currently at Porter Junction, ( Chesterton In )..

Again, fantastic work ShayNo7

Best regards

Thomas

I see you are going prototypical, just like I am. Are you using track charts? Real srtm / dem terrain.? I know Chicago land is mostly flat as a pancake, but if you want I have terrain files for the area you are covering - and much more. :Y:

If you ever decide to go further east from the IHB Michigan Avenue Yard, onto the NS main at CP Hick, I have a very old conrail track chart in pdf format - Western region / Chicago division. If you decide to model the CSX tracks -Barr sub, then I also have a old CSX Chicago division pdf diagram and maintenance chart.

Let me know if you want them.

My route is done between Blue Island Il all the way east to Chesterton In, next stop La porte and South Bend/Elkhart. I have included both the CSX and IHB going east out of Chicago and NS from CP hick going east. It has taken me close to 1.5 years to get where I am now, but atleast im finished with the huge Chicago / Gary area. Its a pain to model all that aint it?:'(

Im not a Trainz user but like I said, I have alot of respect for anyone willing to model this fantastic railroad area, its packed ! Thats why I am here even though I am from "dark side" of the TS2013 world.

Do you have any more pics of your route? Would like to compare your work to mine. Lets see how close/similar we are in modeling this awesome railroad area.

Regards

Thomas

Imnew, I really really want a route for this area. I made the NS Chicago line from rolling praire, Indiana to Ogden dunes. Is there any way to convert this route from railworks to trainz?

Hey there Conrailfan1999,

Im sorry, railworks cannot be converted to trainz and vice versa. Would have been a neat feature though.

Personally I prefer the 90% black 10% orange switchers, but all the same, the route looks outstanding. Much more than I could do. Good luck and keep us posted.

It depends where you are on the line. West of blue island sees upwards of 50 trains a day while east of there sees a maximum of 30.

I made ten trips to the USA in the years 2003-2009. I always had three days on each trip to railfan Chicago. What a place to railfan ! In all those trips I never did see it all, its just to big of a railroad hub :Y: ( Worlds biggest in fact )
