Newish Trainz player, please help, my head is spinning!

Good evening all, I've been a long time owner of the Trainz franchise, owning several versions throughout the last 11? years but I never really played them very much. I recently re-installed T:ANE and TRS2019 and started importing some of the freeware and paid DLC I had bought from Jointed Rail. My question is, do I need to have BOTH T:ANE and TRS2019 installed? Everytime I switch back and forth between the two versions, it rescans the database and takes literally ages before I can play. Im guessing this is not the intended way? Should I JUST have TRS2019 installed and it will automatically download all the T:ANE routes once I log in? What about some of the paid DLC from JR which states "T:ANE only", do I have to play it through TANE or can I load it in using TRS2019?

Welcome back!

You shouldn't be seeing a database rebuild every time you start up either program unless something is drastically wrong. I do recommend excluding the Trainz program and content folders from your antivirus real-time scanning. That can cause weird issues including database rebuilds if it constantly stomps on the program. TANE and TRS2019 can coexist on your hard drive in two separate program folders pointing to their own databases so hopefully you're not doing this since the data formats are different and things can get corrupted. Many of us have both installed so we can transfer content from TANE to TRS2019, but not the other way around.

Your TANE routes, if you purchased them through the N3V My Trainz store, you should automatically get the same routes downloaded into TRS2019.

The Jointed Rail content, even though marked TANE only, works fine in TRS2019. That was for TS12 users where the content will not work.

It seems you could possibly be using the same database for TANE and TRS19 which is absolutely not recommended. If so, I would keep TRS19 only and uninstall TANE as you really don't need it

Cheers

Yeah thats what I was doing to save on disk space. I've really gone and buggered stuff up now. Things that worked perfectly before (Coal Country) are now broken and unplayable (spawning locomotives under the map for example), and my newly bought Pennsylvania & Berwyn route isn't loading necessary locomotives so none of those scenarios are playable either. Such a headache!

I think a fresh uninstall of EVERYTHING is in order and start from scratch again. Will report back later today!

Edit: did a fresh install of the game, and a fresh install of all DLC/CDP's that I had and everything works perfectly again, thanks!
