Newbie question about TS09 and or Classics

OK I'm interested in TS 09 but I love steam and nothing but steam. Does it contain any steam rigs and turn of the century (19th & 20th) buildings etc? . Should I opt for the Classics version ?
I could not find a good description in Aurans ads or promo's of software content. Any thoughts are welcome....thanks

For UK steam TC3 is good, for US steam then you are basically downloading from the DLS and or purchasing payware. Don't under estimet the free stuff but have a look at TheCowboys steam locos as well. If you purchase TC3 then you will also need to buy TRS2006 to get the built in content that many layouts use. TC1/TC2 ignore for steam.

So TRS2006 is probably the best stable version at the moment, TC3 contains some enhancements for steam but the US steam locos may not have been modified yet. TRS2009 comes with all the TRS2006 built in content but there are conflicting views about whether it is a finished product yet. In theory TRS2009 in compatibility mode runs everything but in practice it has a few quirks.

So you pay your money and takes your choice. TRS2009 will almost certainly get sorted out and would give you the most content but it may have a few quirks day one.

Hi newbie,
if you want to know what Trainz has to offer have a look at this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWegbNDbkEo&feature=related If you need to see more just go to YouTube and put (trainz) in the search box, as for which to choose, is one hell of a Big debait around here, All I will say is that TRS2009 looks promising But the jurys still out on that one.
What in the box as reguards to content dosent matter, the on line trainz station has masses of stuff to download, it's not a case of what is there more fo a case of what isn't there.

Im no American steam head, but I know what I like, and I likes what I know.

Thank you John
I was hoping to not need to buy a bunch of add-ons but maybe that's the only way around personalizing my set

Thank you for the link. I hope you're right about the TRS09, I shouldn't worry it's not likely to break my bank account.

Well to start with if you could just make do with a few steam locos, try here.

http://steammachine.com/bdaneal/

If you search the DLS for locos with the word steam in the description that shows some 200 odd locos, however the content creators aren't very good at accurately describing their creations sometimes which is a problem with the DLS but even so there should be some fifty odd US steam locos around. Narrow gauge has quite a following.

Much depends an the time period you are interested in. Have a browse here for the heck of it.

Thecowboy's 9000 locos are exceptionally good and at $18 for four aren't bad value either.

There are horse drawn wagons around with animated horses if they fit your time period.

http://www.trainzone.co.nz/ is worth a look as well.
