Newbie derailment!

Hi All!

As a newbie Im sure my question has arisen a few times, but after searching manuals and forums, I would just like a simple answer to my question.

When a train derails (for whatever reason), and you get the red exclamation marks above the train, is that the end of your session? Is there a 'reset dreailed train' icon anywhere?

Although I quite like the realism, when you are getting to know how trainz works, regular derailments is very time consuming!

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

PS. Bought Trainz for my lad, but am in serious danger of taking over myself!

Regards Chris

Hi Chris,

There is an asset on the Download Station called a Rerail Portal (116387:5:1) which might be what you need. I have never used it, and have no idea how it works, but you might like to give it a try.

Cheers

Brian

  1. Hello Chris...........You can also try the DERAILED VEHICLE ERASER kuid2 1116387:4:3. If you need assistance on what to do after you download it, just holler..........

Normally when you derail that's it (subject to what those special items mentioned above do of course).

However, when you create a session yourself you can specify its realism level, one option of which is no derailments. This is a standard feature with no additional items required.

There is also the DELETE TRAIN driver command. If you click on Driver Command, and then EDIT, I think it is a default option that you can check. I have never used it, so I cant tell you much. The note simply states "Causes the train and its driver to be deleted from the session".

I have this checked, but I STILL get derailments!!!!!!!!!:(

If it's a layout you've created yourself, check carefully that all the sections of the track are properly connected to each other at the spline points (the dashed circles). Maybe you've got a little gap in there.

Other people might well be able to suggest other possible causes.

Unfortunately this only stops you coming off if you go round a bend too fast, If you drive off the end of the track then thats it!

the rerail portal works fine, it deletes the derailed consist anywhere on the route, you only need one, then it emits it after a short time when it can then carry on its program if its an AI train.
the main problem is. if you derail 300 yards from where you were headed and the rerail portal is 50 miles away ...................:hehe:

cheers Roy

I've just thought of another cause of derailments, namely changing a junction while a train is on it so one part goes to the left and the other to the right.
