New version for PC?

Would any pair of 3D glasses work, or do I need to buy the specific ones NVidia sells? I'm not even sure if my Samsung monitor supports the 3D, but it's only about 2yrs old and is HD compliant, and if I remember correctly, I believe it will support 3D.
I probably won't bother, but perhaps to "wake me up" when I'm bored, it might be fun.
