New Aircraft

You guys are fantastic - Rob, I don't understand at the moment why certain finishes are difficult but yuo've obviously psnet a lot of time on the AA 772's - and also the One World variant, which like the BA Dove 319's adds a bit of variety to large numbers of the same aircraft. Another major visual imporvement to my model on top of Pascal's new BA fleet yesterday. Another major fleet renewal (no less than 14 AA 772's into LHR on my model day) Shame it means the demise of the AA DC10's though!

Thanks Pascal for the Austrian 320 and the military buffs on here must be drooling over Vulcan's Sukhoi.

Aircraft production is booming! In the real world, BA have just taken delivery of B787's and A380's. Probably a lot of B787's to deliver worldwide as they have presumably been stored somewhere.

I'm oging to be busy - but not as busy as you guys - thanks again!

Bob

On a real life aircraft note, Asiana Flight 214 crashed at KSFO yesterday. It was operated by aBoeing 777-200. It apparently struck the sea wall upon landing, the tail and engines broke off and it burst into flames. So far 2 confirmed dead, with 5 in a critical condition. My condolences go out to the families involved.
On a lighter note
I spent the whole day aircraft watching on a family day out to Legoland Windsor, right underneath the approach path to LHR. Some interesting aircraft including a LOT Poland Dreamliner. Also can we have a 787 in Norwegian Air Shuttle livery, as they've just had them delivered.

Oh my gosh, Bob look what Santa dropped 5 months early!

Vulcan, would you be able to assist me building this aircraft. I have no idea how to reduce the polys and add the engine and landing gear animation. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The Airbus A321 becomes Startup!

First reskin, this A321-211 operated by Aeroflot.

bw9c.jpg

At startup (key B) the engines start in sequence, with animation of the compressor rotor, the navigation lights are swiched on. You are ready to take off..See the keys definitions and the triggers setup in the config.txt.

The model is cleared by the DLS and should be available soon.

The paint looks good Pascal.

Bob, in order to get a shiny finish you need to add a reflective material in Max and give it about 20% reflection. Any paint used in that composite material will be shiny. Shiny is not the norm, so it has to be a special Max version of the aircraft, it cannot be just reskinned if you want a flat finish later. The material combination (diffuse plus reflective) is exported with the model file and can only be changed in MAx.

Urraco, I have found in the past that trying to use meshes made by others for aircraft is not really an option. Apart from copyright issues, free 3dsmax meshes have far too many polygons. The only way to reduce polygons is to weld the extra verticees together to simplify the mesh. Because of the number of polys and therefore lines in the mesh it is impossible to see what you are doing. I make all my own meshes it is usually faster than trying to fix another mesh.

If the model is from Sketchup, it probably has 30,000 plus polys, and while it can be brought into Trainz, it is not legally possibly to get it into Max to work on. Again, the shear size of the correction task is not worth it, sorry.

Of course a from scratch Embraer 145 might look like this in Max :):

embraer_145.jpg

There are some new aircraft available, I have been spending some time on air refuelling tankers with Rob. He has done some texture work for this one, the KC10A Extender:

kc10_103.jpg

The aircraft is set up only to connect to the larger freight carriers such as the C-130 and C5A Galaxy. Using the keys, the tanker will rise above the track and extend the probe for coupling (on straight track of course!). The picture was taken while testing the tanker, and you are in and out of Driver all the time - I did not bother to start up the Galaxy (you might notice the crew have the door open with the steps down) .

The next one now available is the Airbus A330 MRRT tanker aircraft, this is used by the RAAF. It is a little more complicated. It will refuel aircraft from either the center fuel probe or the wing fuel probe on the right of the aircraft. Using the V key lifts the tanker and extends the center probe for coupling with the fighters, FA18, Sukhoi35 or Tomcat:

a330_mrrt103.jpg

Then using the H key the tanker moves sideways and extends the wing probes to couple with the fighter:

a330_mrrt105.jpg

The models are startup versions of course. I will upload the Vickers VC10 K3 Tanker tomorrow, it is similar to the above but only uses the wing refuelling probes.

You can see all the details and trigger settings on my webpages. Look under the Military Aircraft, Jet Engined for these three aircraft:

Boeing 777F - FedEx Express

More great work from Vulcan don't you think folks?! Not one but 3 tanker aircraft to go with the KC-135. We now even have one to re-fuel the larger cargo aircraft!
Also a characteristic high quality project from Pascal.

.......................
At a busy FedEx Express depot a Boeing 777F cargo aircraft is parked and shutting the systems down for the mammoth task of unloading and re-loading.

A huge aircraft with a huge payload also needs loads of fuel.

B777fFedEx01_zps878a65d1.jpg

With the last of the cargo loaded the B777F is ready to head of on another long journey.

B777fFedEx05_zpse512fdac.jpg

The Boeing 777F has the same subtle improvements as the American Airlines aircraft. This includes the flashers added to the startup sequence.

For anyone looking to re-skin this aircraft, understand that it has a slightly different script code to the other B777s. Vulcan has removed the "Welcome Aboard" announcement (since there's no point in welcoming cargo pallets aboard :hehe:). The altered file is called "aircraft102.gse".

The FedEx is now available on DLS along with a number of upgrades to the B777-200 fleet.

Very good work, all!

There are now more tankers than fighters to refuel!!

Ian, this Embraer will be much welcomed. Those small commuters are important now everywhere.

Rob, the Fedex livery is splendid. Good idea to take out the welcome announcement from a freighter. I should have done it to my Air France 777F!

Pascal

Another busy day guys! I can't believe how much Heathrow commercial stuff you guys have produced since I joined this forum back in February with a request for a few typical Heathrow aircraft! The quality and quantity of your stuff has prompted me to keep making improvements to my model so that it now bears little resemblance to how it looked 6 months ago. Like R & D, its a never ending job - there's always room for improvement.

Pascal - another off my list - the Aeroflot startup looks really good - thanks again!.

Ian - After salivating over your BA Embraer I did a double-take at the C17 door before reading your caption! Brilliant idea of rising above the track to enable re-fuelling. Your comments about the shiny paint finish is broadly understood but I think I'll be cutting my teeth on some simple re-skins first. I'm thinking about trying one but now there's the holiday with the grandkids looming so it's going to be another month or so before I can give it a try.

Rob - Noticed your updates when I looked through content the other day so should be good when I update. -

On a current note, Thomson holidays (TUI) brand new 787 has been circling over here (Irish Sea) dumping fuel before returning to Manchester with a problem and have just heard on news that Ethiopian 787 has had a fire on stand at Heathrow. Bad news for Boeing.

Thanks again everyone

Bob

Having flown with LOT,ANA and United on their Dreamliners I can honestly say they are amazing aircraft. I think it's just teething trouble, and Boeing don't deserve these problems.

Hi there i hope all ok around here....

Like you already know im not making any-more addons for TRS but only pay-ware models for Br Trainz only... But i have be involved creating drivable Aircraft's, boats, Submarines, Cars etc for a new Simulator called Vehicle Simulator Mainframe.
Anyway if some one is interested in convert my addons in to a drivable Aircraft A321 or something else please post me i can suplay the complete 3d model in 3dmax2009.

The models have all doors workable (passengers and cargo doors, flaps, ailerons , ruder, propeller engines, Reverse, Gears and gears doors and a complete 3d cockpit instruments etc all in 3d.)

If you have some interest and want to see some videos i let here the link and some images.

There are a few new aircraft now available, all startup models, perhaps they were requested :o

The Sud Aviation Caravelle III, naturally Air France:

All the details on my webpages under Aircraft Commercial Jet Engined.

Rob has asked for a Bombardier CRJ200, so I am working on that for the next one.

Ian

Well done, Ian.
A large choice of commuters airliners, long awaited!!
With the Embraer, already available and the CRJ200 , we have reskinning works for years!!

Of course, I am after the Caravelle and already working on other liveries such as Air Inter, Minerve, Sterling, Alitalia, etc.. etc..

Pascal

I continue with an European airliner:

An Airbus A320 startup, operated by Wizzair. This one is registred in Ukraine.

Agreement by DLS pending.

Pascal

Looks good, does anyone know a suitable reskin base for a TED by United aircraft as that is a fairly simple livery.

uracco,
My best advice is this.
The latest generation of startup aircraft have a whole suit of nice features that would point you toward using one of those as the base model for your TED. The problem you have at the moment is that there is only one choice of startup A320 models. It is Pascal's [papou] Austrian Airlines. This should be a good start point for the TED but the jet cowls are light blue. Those will need a bit of tweeking to get them the dark blue you'll need but that shouldn't be too difficult.

You could save yourself some work with the jet cowls by copying and re-sizing the cowls from the Delta A320 by Maynard [nzms] or the Egyptair by Pascal [papou].

I hope that was the answer you were after.

Boeing 777-212 - Singapore Airlines

Looking out the window of a Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 another large jet comes into view. It also operated by Singapore Airlines.

b777-212Singapore03_zpsbdc1af33.jpg

This one is the shorter version of the Boeing 777, the 200 series. Singapore operate both the 200 & 300 variants of the big Boeing.

Off it goes heading for Changi International.

b777-212Singapore05_zps8af9012a.jpg

This will be the last of the B777-200 series for now. I'm going to move onto some A330 & A340 re-skins for a little while. If you have a specific aircraft you would like, please leave a message on this forum thread.

The Singapore Boeing 777-212ER is now available for upload from DLS.

Hi Rob

Well I'm glad you asked that question ! mmmmmm 330/340's now let me see......

Take your pick from the following for my choice - these are the remaining non-European 330/340's for my Heathrow model.

330-200: Qatar - South African - Gulf Air - Middle East Airlines - Royal Jordanian - Air China - Sri Lankan

330-300: Air Canada - South African - US Airways - Oman Air

340-300: Kuwait - South African

340-500: Etihad - Arik Air

Anything from the above would be very much appreciated

Thanks again

Bob
