New Aircraft

Yes, Gordon, nice work, particularly with the complexity of the body shape.
And so many possibilities for re-skinning!
Thanks Ian.

Hehehe I may try my hand at putting these in Luke Air Force Base (USAF F-16 (and soon to be F-35) training base) squadron colors

Hi!

Here is a new reskin, related to an EC145 of the french Securite Civile.
It is used mainly these days for sanitary evacuation.

Many thanks to Ian who managed to re-work his model, in order to allow more complicated repaints than before. Great job!

and here after take off.

Model just uploaded to DLS. We may anticipate some delay before availability due to some DLS troubles at the moment.

Another reskin under way, for the same helicopter, for the french Gendarmerie.

Boeing 737 - Virgin Gillette Mach 3

Nice helicopter Pascal.

I've been working away with Ian [Vulcan] on the Virgin Gillette Mach 3 737 in recent times. It's finally finished & is now in the slow process of being uploaded to DLS.
Ian has modified the tail a little to make more in proportion to the real aircraft. He's also re-done a the winglettes by elongating them slightly & squaring them off at the tip. Part of that excercise allowed for more definition for the Virgin logos on the winglettes.

This is the first of 6 Virgin Blue / Virgin Australia aircraft I've been working on. Hopefully they will benefit those who have both Australian & New Zealand routes.

Hello!

Thanks Rob. I see that you keep Ian busy.. like me sometimes..

Here is an other repaint of the EC-145: Livery of the french Gendarmerie.
These helicopters are widely used for rescue at sea and in the mountains.

The file is beeing processed by the DLS. The Securite Civile one was just accepted today.

The EC145 paint has come out nicely Pascal.

I have uploaded a Thunderbirds version of the F-16 (approval is taking a long time as Rob said), it required the nose mesh to be reworked, to give the clean lines of the paintwork, so this version is a unique mesh for this paintwork.

The next model is the Boeing C-17 Globemaster of the RAAF. Australia has just taken delivery of another one, so a model is appropriate. I have spent some time on detailed interiors and additional trigger actions for this model, now finished.

c17a.jpg

Like the Galaxy, the model will eject a jeep from the rear, the script has been upgraded so the door opening and closing is part of the action.

c17c.jpg

The model also has operating engine retarders, using trigger actions of course. The engine cowling moves to the rear to deploy the retarders.

c17b.jpg

I have also added trigger settings to slow the aircraft to 130 kph for landing and to stop the aircraft after that, makes the flying easier using dcc.

Uploaded soon when the DLS process gets going.

You will find the details here, including a small video:

nice work Pascal, feel like a challange? how about this......

Air New Zealand's Hobbit plane which is on a tour of the world at the moment.
more pics here .. http://www.airlinereporter.com/2012...iels-special-hobbit-livery-on-boeing-777-300/

Gordon

That's a tough challenge Gordon! We don't have a B777 in the family as yet & trying to graft that complex livery onto a proportionally different B767 would indeed be quite difficult. If we had a B777.....

Ian,
Great work with the C-17 mate. I can see that one being a crowd favourite. Lots of functions & nice looking aircraft.
I'll definately be setting about RCAF & USAF Globemaster re-paints as soon as I've cleared my Virgin aircraft.
The F-16 Thunderbird is pretty cool as well. I remember seeing them perform for the opening of Brisbane airport 20 odd years ago. They arrived with the Globemaster's predecessor, the C-141 Starlifter.
I like that your newer aircraft have people modelled in the cockpits as well. It's a bit weird seeing aircraft flying around without a crew. I do realise it doesn't help the poly count.

Very impressive work, Ian. This one should be much appreciated, despite the fact that we have not much globemasters in Europe. May be I could make a british one.

Yes, a B777 is missing . May be one day..but I have enough reskin work at the moment!

The EC-154 is finding a good audience here in France. Helicopters are much appreciated to populate and animate a part of a map, without too much work. I'm planning to make other repaints of other countries EC-145 or BK117C used for rescue or police.

Comment and Question if I may!

Hello Ian,

Hope things are fine at your end of the world, sir!!

First, oh my goodness, I just say the video of the Boeing C-17 Globmaster transport, and it's amazing what you have accomplished with it. sir! --- I mean it's just incredible --- I hope everyone takes a look! Well, well, well done!!!!

Question -- Can the Aircraft Action Trigger be set up for other vehicles to perform the same task that of the C-17 -- for example, like the Marsz Hawk Transport, in my case, to slow it down rapidly?

wow -- great video -- love the engine effect how it expands while it slows the aircraft!!!

cheers
Ishie

Thanks for the comments guys, appreciated.

Ish, a script must be part of a particular model, most actions rely on part of the model being separately animated, so the script can manipulate them directly through keys or trigger settings. The slow down and stop functions for a model could be used on other models as these functions communicate with Trainz speed settings, not the model animations.

I'm trying a way of converting a FlightSim X B777 .mdl file and converting it to 3DS Max, I'll let you know how it goes.

Have to say Ian, your new site looks great.

Boeing 737 Virgin Blue

You've created quite the buzz Ian.....

I have something that's nowhere near as interesting. I have another Virgin re-paint.
This one is probably what's called a cheat's re-paint. This one looks pretty much like the Vulcan original Virgin Blue aircraft but without the satelite barnacle. It also has received the winglete & tail update. In my defence, even though the new asset looks very similar, it took a fair amount of work to re-align the texture map for the tail section to match the new model.

The next Virgin aircraft due for release will be the current Virgin Australia livery (white with red writing).

In addition to my helicopter serie, here is a BK117 with the colors of the french SAMU (emergency sanitary evac belonging to hospitals).

Here over the Esterel mountains, french Riviera.

Soon on the DLS.

Hey Ian, Is there any chance of a Sikorsky S-61 in British International Helicopters livery at some point? With the recent closure of the flights from Penzance to the Isles of scilly, it would be a rather appropriate model.
