That's something I can agree with. The sky, for example, seems to be a bit 'lifeless' (esp. at night) - perhaps it's the sky textures I'm using.

For one, Railworks is better for one more reason. They are more kind on Railworks forums. They are helpfull and a bit more mature.
I didn't know I had so good patience. And I still have it, even after the forums stupid users blaming me for something I don't have anything to do with, after all this bashing on me, my patience may be gone. And that wouldn't be good for anyone on this forum. Most Russians will do terrible things when angry... Not just a little tiny message of anger.

You said you wanted Trainz to look like Railworks. There have been numerous threads about the out dated graphics engine.
Railworks had a limited amount of legacy assets that were fairly new and that got all screwed up.
I said do you really want to go there.
Both examples of a graphic engine upgrades, OpenRails and Railworks3, don't really work well.
At least with Trainz there will be an old version that works if N3V ever do a "Graphics Engine Screwup". Look pretty and dysfunctional.

I DID NOT say I want Trainz to look like Railworks. I simply used Railworks as an illustration that, in my opinion, had some nice graphics features that made it look more life-like. I was not comparing the two products (incendiary and foolish act on the Internet). I would NOT want Trainz to look like Railworks, but I would like to see some of the newer graphics changes it has adopted in Trainz. Trainz is quite alright as it is perhaps for a few items which cannot be mentioned should that give license for even further "discussion".
Maybe I can ask the question later after Microsoft's new Flight comes out at the end of the month. All though I am sure some will take the opportunity to bash it as well. In fact now that I just mentioned Flight some comments may even emerge despite the program's pending release date.

However, if many more individual comments emerge it may offer more encouragement toward the vendor to dress-up the program a bit. If lots of customers make comments about better graphics that is better than relying on just one or two threads on the subject to get the message across.

The reports I have by firing off about this topic have so far not reached a moderator, so this is another attempt to get someone to clean the mess.

At the moment whether you follow Railworks, Trainz or both the simple question has to be - where is the money going to come from to fund the development of a new graphics engine or buying in a custom one in these current economic times? Those of us who have been round the train sim scene for a long time remember when the best we had was a bunch of text based sims or the expensive Trainmaster 3 with it's side profile view. What we have is still way better but much as I would like to see Skyrim level graphics in a train sim, the likely user base is not there. Also bear in mind as you change things, the software becomes less accessible to content creators. We have seen this to an extent with Trainz and also Railworks where there is very little developer support for the public using the tools and better graphics means far more skills are needed to avoid the end result looking like it was built by a five year old.
If we can get back to the original post, I'd also like to see some improvements in lighting. Attachment points can be added to a locomotive for a headlight and ditchlights and what I'd like to see is the ability to add lights to other content simply by adding an attachment point. Maybe this can already be done, but if so, I'm not aware of it. If it can be done on locos, then the basics must already exist in the game engine.
