Need help with TS2010 seasonal textures

In TS2010, I am playing around with "Edit environment/environment/snow altiitude". The goal is having trees with snow and snow textures above a designated altitude. I have found some speedtrees that work, and know how to identify them by looking in the config file as well (of course that only can be done if they are local). I could not find any textures that are seasonal built-in, but I did find some textures on the DLS by mcguirel (KUID 2:72938:21062:3 and 21056.3) which are described as TS2010 seasonal, so I downloaded them, and you can see they should be by looking at their config file, yet neither looks any different above snow altitiude. I played with the calendar, didn't matter.

1. Is there something else I need to do?
2. If not, can anyone recommend TS2010 seasonal textures that work?

try trainzer2's seasonal textures

I too use seasonal textures, and have found that those made by trainzer2 work well in TS2010.

They work for autumn in TS12, but for a reason I have yet to discover, they do not show their snow in winter. Even so, the textures themselves are marvels.

Experiment with the size and direction of these textures. I have found that I can do my route with little or no use of grass objects. The textures can simulate tufts of longer grass among shorter grass quite nicely, giving a considerable processing demand savings for a route.

The main trouble with seasonal textures is the great lack of them. The ones that exist are pretty darn nice, but there's so few. I have learned to make my own, but since they are based heavily on the ones from trainzer2, I will seek his permission before any distribution of my own occurs.

Once you get hooked on seasonal textures, and put in some nice seasonal speed trees, then you will begin agonizing over the total lack of seasonal track and buildings :D I don't even know if those are possible to create, but with the absolute richness the seasonal textures have added to my route, you can bet I am going to find out!

thanks for the info

At least I'm not searching in vain on the DLS for textures that change to snow based on altitude. My guess is that progress on this will be made in time.

My plan B is to find a long, flat object, elevate it to the snow altitude, then move it around against the mountain, view from the side, and apply snow textures above that height.

Water

Use the topology "Get height" tool to pick an altitude.

Then set the water height to that altitude and flood the mountains.

After painting your lines, delete all the water.
