N3V Official Server - Many thanks but one minor problem

First of all, I would like to thank N3V for creating an official server for Trainz 12 - Debrecen Nyerigaza (Yes, I spelt that wrong unintentionally). I'm thankful that there can be an official server that is always online.

However, I would like to bring to attention one minor issue that I have come across while participating in this multiplayer session. It would be nice if there could be an N3V Rep who can monitor the session once in a while. I havent even driven half the route yet and I am constantly having to move locomotives in order to move consists off the mainline so that I can pass. It's becoming quite annoying how when people quit, they are dumping their consists without thinking of moving them out of the way. Because I am not a server admin, I cant simply delete the locomotive.

Now, I know that many people will probably respond with saying that I am whining about free stuff and that I should just go play by myself - I'd like to respond to that in advance and say that I am simply bringing to attention something that I feel is important if a server is going to be hosted.

If an N3V Rep could once in a while check on the server and check for abandonded consists and then delete or move them (Say, on their way to and from lunch or something) then that would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks everyone.

Hi Conductorphil,

Thanks for the feedback. The official server is automated as we don't have the manpower to have someone continually check up on the game, but if you've got any suggestions for improvements to the gameplay (such as the cleaning up of unused trains) then please keep them coming. We can fix a lot of things via automation.

cheers,

chris

Thanks for the reply Chris.

Obviously, a reputable company like yours is very busy working on new content and bug fixes for Trainz so I suppose monitoring the server could become problematic.
I know this might be difficult as a detector, but if consists could be deleted when drivers disconnect and then subsequently returned via the portal, that would be great.

How about a Tag that can be added to tracks that marks it as main line or siding? Then, in MP, if a train is left unoccupied for a set amount of time it would be respawned on a siding track. Or just deleted. I say after a set time as many times I will be switching an area and leave part of my train on the main line.

Anyone can host a multiplayer session. You do not have to wait for the N3V session. And there is the added advantage of having a host who can deal with any in- game issues you might have

Still, it was nice having an official dedicated server online. That way I would inconvenience anyone when I personally logged off if I was the host.

It would be nice if they released the ability to host a dedicated server to current owners of the game, this way people can host their own routes and administer it themselves, and perhaps even build thriving virtual railroad communities.

Just a thought :)

The UMR 2014 route runs 24/7. It is usually up for a longer period of time than the N3V. Well it was until they read this. LOL It will be restarted in a day or two because of an update.
