Mysterious Objects

I have been using Surveyor for several years - since 2003 - and have today observed something different and wonder if anyone knows the reason. I would add that this is not affecting anything except my curiosity.
The route is one that I have been working on for the last six years and to say the least is "huge" and today for the first time noticed some objects "floating in space" beyond the last baseboard - cannot get near enough to identify them and if I extend the baseboard to that area they are not there and have tried the "wire button" to no avail. When the baseboard is removed the objects (look like pieces of track) return.
Just curious !!

Maybe they are hidden in a layer? You could clone your route and then collapse all the layers in the clone and see if that clarifies the issue.

I have seen something like this. (In wire mode of course), The mysterious objects are very deep in the board, and to get to them I had to "dig" a hole wide enough for the camera to go down. Once "in the deeps", I discovered these to be objects you load in cars, and these show when there is a car above in the surface. Impossible to delete (may delete if deleting the car above). They also refuse to be moved up or down, but follow the car if moved. Since it does not affect performance nor visuals, I don't care about them, so they may stay there.. Another oddity are some "objects" showing above some bushes or trees. They appear momentarily at a certain distance and go away when near. Hard to see but nevertheless somehow there (mostly in driver).

What you are seeing is something that is quite in order. When a visible load is applied to a gondola, it is necessary to hide it when the car is to show as empty and the normal method is to hide the load by putting it far enough down that it would not normally be seen.

Exactly as narrowgauge said. When I make one if the bottom of the traincar is 3 feet above ground I hide it at 103 feet below ground. Animation to fill the car starts with the load at -103 feet. In 1 keyframe (1/30 of a second) I move it to +3 feet then in subsequent keyframes (30 /per second) I move it to the top position as if the car was full. Unloading follows in reverse order. One or two anti-bounce points are required to keep it from flying all over the place during filling and emptying.

The hidden load can not be deleted as its part of the traincar mesh.

Could also be a shadow, I have had this happen with a bridge.....made me feel like a cat trying to catch a fly on the other side of the window :)

That reminds me of some birds I had flying around in TRS2004. Trying to delete them was hilarious, never did manage to delete them.

The other thing too which I've found is bits of track and roads off in space. This was caused by deleting a populated baseboard. For some reason roads and track remained off in the sky in the distance after the board removal. The only way to clean up these floating bits was to add some blank baseboards so I could get into range and then delete them normally. It is quite amusing though to see cars moving in the sky and disappearing off into space.
