My Trainz - Connection Offline (also effecting other apps on my PC)

Ambling on the slow line
Today I realised I couldn't download to my main install of TRS22 from the DLS (and that the DLS hadn't updated since 21st December). Upon checking settings, the 'MyTrainz' tab reported my connection was offline (it isn't as I can log-in via my browser). When I clicked on the tab, I was offered the options to 'close'; 'delete account' or 'sign out'. Opting for the latter, I then attempted to log back in with my username and password, this produced the error message, "Unable to contact the MyTrainz server." As I'm now logged out, my Gold version of TRS22 PE instantly downgraded to TRS22 and the game will not load as it doesn't work offline. So pretty catastrophic!

Strange thing is, my installs of TRS19 (on the same drive) and secondary install of TRS22PE (on another drive) are still happily logged-in to the My Trainz server and working fine (for now). So I'm now working from the secondary install of TRS22 (fully updated from the userdata folder of the main install.)

Even stranger, TRS22 is not alone in being unable to 'phone home' via the internet. This happened to the Discord app about six weeks ago and then WhatsApp last month and looks like it's effecting my video editing app as well. All of them claim there's no internet connection (my internet is fine, it's just that something is stopping them connecting).

For troubleshooting so far, I've checked my firewall settings (both installs of TRS22 are 'trusted' apps in the firewall settings) and I've tried running TRS22 as an Administrator, to no avail. One further bit of info: although I'm not formally logged-in, the game recognises my user id and my live First Class Ticket. So something must be connecting somewhere.

So, any suggestions for further troubleshooting? My fear is that my other installs of Trainz will also fall foul of the same problem and I'll no longer be able to play at all. Help!

If you try a different NIC, does the problem go away? If the problem follows to another NIC, and no other devices have internet connection issues, maybe the computer needs to have a refresh. Could be something is on there without your knowledge and is interrupting it.
If it was my computer, I would do a refresh of operating system.

Network Interface Card I suspect, although if other network dependent apps are working then the NIC is probably ok. Maybe some internal queue is clogged - like the DLS processing.

Rebooting clears a lot of stuff.

Just got a new PC and I am now having the same issue! I came across the issue in the past and installing a VPN fixed it, though I have now done that and the issue still persists! I have logged out of the My Trainz though upon attempting to re log in I receive an error message, "unable to contact the My Trainz server" I have heard that the team is looking into it, hopefully it gets patched soon!

Thanks for this response. Sorry to hear you're having similar problems. Is it only Trainz that's affected or are other apps also having problems connecting?

As I now have attempted to play Trainz2022, the game force shuts the application down and states to make sure that my internet connection is now blocking Trainz 2022, I have the feeling this may be a connected problem.

As a postscript to this, today TRS22 (remember, not connected to MyTrainz) detected and then downloaded and installed SP6! I'm not entirely sure how it could do this without having an internet connection, but maybe there's a distinction between connectivity to 'MyTrainz' and the update streams for service packs and revised versions?

That's because your My Trainz login is on a separate from the server that holds the patches.

The DLS is definitely "clogged" and needs a reset when the crew gets back to work after the holiday. Your login issue is separate though. Has anything else changed such as a Windows update or a driver update? I know I got a driver update for my mother board recently from Intel for the Killer network controllers.

Thanks John. I have an AMD motherboard, so I don't think the Intel drivers issue is going to apply. Windows updates are a suspect. I first noticed the problem back in November when Discord stopped loading and then followed by WhatsApp. It's the strangest thing though that I have two versions of TRS22 installed (and TRS19) and two of the three validate successfully on start-up, but one doesn't. It feels kind of random! My IT guy is coming over to check everything tomorrow, so I hope he can track the issue down.

Computers can be unstable at times. There are so many variables when problems happen. I had the same problem with logging in to Trainz last year to download from CMP but that was a temporary systemwide outage that affected the DLS which was fixed.
