Hi.
Here I'm talking about signals and speed limit.
On my huge 200 km single track route, I'm using by-pass siding every 10 km or so to let incoming traffic pass in opposite direction. This mean I can wait at a red signal for about 10 minutes while the incoming train is entering the by-pass. Because of this configuration, I've been force to use a maximum speed limit of 60 km/h what is really slow for an express passenger train but okay for a freight train. The reason why my speed limits are so slow is simple. If I'm waiting at the red signal, that give a yellow light to the incoming train and automatically it reduce half way the speed limit except if the speed limit is slower than 60 km/h.
This mean if I would use a 90 km/h speed limit between the by-pass, the incoming train would travel at 45 km/h instead of 60 the way I made it. That would make the waiting time longer at the red signal.
Now in TS2009, things changed for the best. Now when the incoming train approach a yellow signal, it reduce its speed half way or so but increase its speed back to the speed limit used on the main line. This means I can now use much faster speed limit between my by-pass and the train will keep its speed until it approach the red signal where it will reduce its speed to stop a long way before the red signal. Its fantastic.
A thumb up !
