My Message is... well, too short!

Hey All,

Is anyone having difficulties in posting threads in the screenshots area of the site? I've tried twice to post a new thread with some screenies and a blog tonight, and keep on getting an error message stating;

"Your message is too short, try lengthening your message by more than 10 characters"

Funny when you consider that 2-3 short paragraphs is considered less than 10 characters :( I did however transfer my thread topic text from this site into Notepad so I didn't have to rewrite it all again. Could this be the issue I wonder?

If it's mostly pictures, then you need to check the length of the text.

(Not sure if this also affects the length of the thread title)

Also, if transferring from these forums into Notepad, use Copy, not Cut.

Thanks Shane. Yes, its about 18 Pics with a reasonable amount of text both in the body & the title. I copied across the screens from Image-shack using copy & paste (not cut as you suggested). Have never had issues with this before which was odd. Anyway, I might try it again today and see what happens.

Cheers for the advice

Richard.

Just tried it again this morning, with no luck. Almost at the point of giving up to be honest! Posts such as this seem fine, but if I start cutting & pasting images, when I hit the "submit new thread" button nothing happens... you could hit it all day and not a thing! (no error message either)

Hmmm, could it have anything to do with the size of the image? I'm using images which are 1280 x 1024. Is this size okay? Cannot remember if this was the limit or not for this forum, but I'm assuming that 1600 x 1200 is too large?

Posting of images, signature banners and avatars are subject to the Appropriate Content Guidelines and the following conditions:
  1. Screen shots posted to the Trainz Community Discussion Forums should be in .jpg format and not exceed a maximum resolution of 800 pixels wide x 600 pixels high*. Any screen shots that exceed this limit will be modified to links or removed from the post altogether.*The only exception to this is within the Screenshot forum. Screen shots posted to the Screenshot forum should be in .jpg format and not exceed a maximum resolution of 1600 pixels wide x 1200 pixels high, however, if your screen shot exceeds 800x600 you are required to include the maximum resolution used in the title of the thread.
  2. Signature banners may not cover an area greater than 800 pixels in width, 100 pixels in height and may not have a total file size greater than 30kb.

It's almost certainly the number of pictures, and someone at N3V getting their error messages mixed up...

I'm surprised at that, since I've seen a quite a few sigs higher than 30kb and bigger then what it says, however I don't care much about it.

Anyways back on topic; I'm able to post my pictures without any hassle at all. So as others said it might just be someone messing up at N3V or number of photos.

Well yes, that's what I attempted to do originally. The hosting source I am using is "Image-shack". I did try the Link for Forums (using both Option 1 & Option 2). Neither worked, although I must say that it's not totally clear if you cut & paste the entire length of the URL link or not? I tried the whole thing and got nothing more in my post than a little grey box which had a cracked (broken) image in the center where the image was supposed to go (as below).

The link I was using is as follows;

My question is, what part of the above link does one use when inserting an image? This URL is for Forums, which I assume is correct...

I dunno... technology - great when it works not so when it doesn't! :confused:

Btw, the number of images I was trying to post is about 12 - probably way too many for one post, then again I've not seen anything on the max number possible.

Richard, as I said, try using Host then Post, and when you have the image uploaded, LMB click on the TOP line, then RMB and copy.
When you are writing up your post here, after opening the "Insert Image" window, just RMB click in the open box and choose "Paste". It could not be easier!

Ten is the limit per post, then you will have to reply and continue posting. I have already posted the image size limits.
