My Config files are not allowing me to edit .....or i don't know how..

I am quite familiar with the content manager and opening to edit things in the content creator plus but, when i click on a particular locomotive that i wish to fix it will pop up the config file which is what i want it to do but then when it arrives onto my screen when i go to edit something in it i can't so can someone explain to me how i go about opening config files and editing something that i want please? thank you

There's your problem. Your computer doesn't belong to you, it belongs to Windows 7 UAC, and the UAC isn't about to let you edit any of its files. You need to learn how to configure the operating system to let you take control.

There are two ways of viewing the config.txt file (three if you include CPP).

One is right click on asset then view config file which only allows you to view it. The other is via edit/edit in explorer then double clicking on the config.txt file (assuming you have set .txt files to open in a text editor such as notepad) that appears in the explorer window that opens up. This is the way to edit the file.

Just thought of another way which is Open with.../AssetX if you have it installed.

I think you're just viewing the config file. Right-click an asset, go down to edit, and click "Edit in Explorer" then the config should be in there somewhere

Click on the asset and press CTRL+SHIFT+E. Sort the items by file type and look for config.txt. Open it in your favorite editor (I use Notepad++ because it's cool).

Yes, and it's a pain in the hind end trying to get your computer to realize that you are its master. You must beat it into subjection!
