Multiple Industry New Setup Question

Hi All,

Working on my route and I'm trying to set up a few multiple industry new tracks and I have acouple of questions.

1. Which layer do they have to be set up on, I did a quick search and found acouple threads that mentioned they must be set up on the session layer. Is that correct?

and

2. How do you set them up to load the same item onto cars of different types? i.e general goods onto a 60ft CSX Boxcar and 60ft bnsf box car?

Regards,
Jordan

For #1, add the object in route-layer, and then set it up in session-layer.

As for #2, that's not possible.

Jordon.

I set up my (INDs) in the route when i install them. But you can do it in both route or session.
If the cars will load general goods then when the car is pulled/pushed onto the IND it will load.
Now remember if you have a a car that will load general goods but you don't want it to load general goods then don't put it on the IND.
Put that car only on a IND that loads the Product you want to load on that car.
Most cars will load there default product if put on a IND that loads that product and sometimes you might not have a place to unload it.

I always add Min,s in Route and set them up in Session. I have found that is the best method. There is no need to do anything if you want to load General Goods onto two types of rail vehicles. There is an option to select the type of car you wish to use in the MIN but I always disregard it. If you do not want a vehicle to load General Goods at the industry, it is actually quite easy. When playing the session use the Commodity Picker to restrict it to another Product.

As long as your car is set up to load a commodity it will load it, so if you set-up a 50ft, 60ft, or 86ft box car to load general goods, MIN's will load all of the cars. You can also use the "load with" driver coomand to load a particular commidty from an IND. If there are seveal commidites that can be loaded at an IND and your cars are config to load them, you can drive to a IND and issue several "load with" commands, as the car you want is loaded you can stop the action remove that particular "load with" command and continue with the next "load with" command until your cars are loaded. If you make a mistake, uncoulple from the rest of the cars and issue an "instant-unload" for that car.

Thanks guys for the help. I figured you had to be able to load cars of the same type with the same product using MIN. I will set them up in the session layer as suggested.

Phil - I have downloaded your setup route/session and am aware of the video, as well i have printed your tutorial PDF. I'm not much of a reader but more of a skimmer, none the less i have it on hand if required.

Hopefully I'll get some time over the next few weeks to get some more accomplished on my route including the setup of the MIN's. If there is interest I can post some screenshots of my WIP (in the appropriate area of the forum of course).

If I require more help i'll ask/post here.

Thanks again,
Regards,
Jordan
