Multi-Level Stations?

I'm planning a route with an elevated track or "L" train for you americans...:hehe:

My problem is I can't seem to find any stations that are two-tiered, as in there are basically two stations one on top of another..
I'm looking for two types, one where the lines (and stations) make a cross (lines going from N-S on top and E-W below for instance), and one where the tracks are both going in the same direction, so that I can then change the line directions as they lead away from the station...

...anyone got any ideas on how I can go about doing this in a realistic way? I've tried just raising one station on top of another but it looks weird...

I need the two stations to be linked by either a lift system or stairs...(stairs would be preferred)...

Any help you can provide me would be much appreciated. :)

1st off; its only the "L" in Chicago; "elevated" works for everywhere else.

I would suggest kit bashing. Put one station on top of the other; maybe put a bridge under the uper station. use the footbridge kits and subway elements to add ways to get to the other layer. etc etc.

At the DLS type "Jeffmorris" ... he has lot of items since pace yourself -- his stuff is basic looking, but they will do the job!!

Thanks! I was wondering how to get the underneath of the top station looking more realistic, a bridge would work perfectly! Got another quick question...

How do I get a bridge to end directly at a station? Bridges won't "snap" onto the ends of a station and if I try to use single track and shorten the distance the track bends and the trail either derails or jerks wildly as it enters/leaves the station....what do you suggest I do?

Also, (sorry for all the questions)..I want to start creating custom content for Trainz 2009. I see that GMax is no longer supported (besides I hate using it), I have TruSpace 7.6 which is a superb and free modelling/animation software, but I don't know if I can make models for Trainz 2009 with it....what's the best (and easiest to use) modelling software out there for making custom content?

You don't need to use a bridge with tracks. Any bridge or two sided slab will do. Then you can just add the tracks you want to the station.

As for Gmax, there is nothing wrong with using it to create content. Official support may be over but there are still plenty of people who continue to use it. It didn't stop working when the support stopped.

Ah, do you know of any other software that also works with Trainz? I have tried using GMax but I find it far to complex to make anything decent, having worked with TrueSpace for so long I've gotten used to how easy it is to make things with it...

is there tutorials and guides on making, exporting and importing content from Gmax and into Trainz?

As far as I know, the only actual exporters for TRS are from 3D canvas, by Amabilis, and from 3D Max. There is, however a third importer from XML, so if Truspace can write XML format files, that may be a way to go. I've never heard of Truspace before your post, so you may be on your own on that one.

However, there is a somewhat active group getting into content using the open source 3D software package Blender, which is a free download. Search these forums for "blender" for more info.

The latest version of Truespace is now 100% free. The company, like MSTS, has become a victim of Microsoft's Razor gang and the program is no longer supported. A letter from the founder of Truespace is urging people to download anything they can lay their hands on before the web site is eventually closed down. It looks like a nice program.

Kitbashing is your best bet.

Peter, you can't forget the L line subway in NYC!:hehe::p

I use Makatini's Maktrack for this type of thing. Look for kuid 119746:28021.
To get a neatly aligned bridge you have to get directly over the junction and zoom in as closely as you can and adjust the track. I then test the track and sometimes make a few more adjustments. I rarely have to adjust it more than twice to get a clean flow from the bridge to the station.
Also, for a more classic look, try doing a title search for the word "elevated" with the search limited to track. You'll find the
JJS_Elevated_Track (With or without walkway) and Elevated_Railway_Support, which goes under the track.
There are also some track by Jaleel and Magicland.
