MSTS2 early demo photos - July 19, 2008

I'll admit it, I'm fairly impressed by the shots/videos of MSTS2, however these photos don't really do it justice simply due to the way photos capture images being displayed on other screens. Hopefully some pure screencaps from the game will roll around soon to give us a better idea of what the game will look like.

The shots of TRS2006 in your album look like most of what I've come to expect from Trainz (some are pretty nice, though)...however, that station render goes a long way towards showing what good modelling/texturing can do to the appearance of a game, especially one like Trainz.

Yes, next year is shaping up to be a very promising year in the world of train sims

Interesting comparison shots. I'm sure I've seen a couple of those TRS2006 shots somewhere before in fact they might even be TRS2004! ;)

Cheers

I don't know why but those MSTS2 pics don't really impress me, perhaps if they were true screenshots I'd think otherwise, but meh. I must admit though, that TRS2009 render looks absolutely stellar:eek:, perhaps you could do the same with the station building in Ingelheim?;) It's quite obvious that next year will have a lot in store for us railsimmers, for me as well as I'll be attempting to do an apprenticeship as an engine driver in either Germany or the US. Still, it's very comforting to know that the Big Cheese of Trainzland is keeping an eye on the competition, and that he's showing us pictures from his inquiries!:p

Nice MSTS 2 shots, but not keen on the concept. The station shot for TRS2009
is pretty impressive,I like the higher quality textures used, almost photo-realistic.If this can be combined with a higher quality sound engine,pointwork/trackwork,tunnel sounds ect, then i'm sure the best is yet to come.My only other hope, detailed tracks, pointwork, slips ect, like Andi06.

If the RE gets an overhaul thats a bonus, the only limiting factor here for ultra realistic scenes is ones hardware.Looking forward to more infomation.Thank's for sharing.

MSTS 2 is catching my eye it seems. Many people who are saying that MSTS 2 doesn't have the ability to let you create your own world? I believe that was in the press kit I downloaded once. I read that World of Rails will let you build the real and the unreal. If this ends up true for the final product then I wonder if Trainz may have competition? Like they say "Know your friends well but know your enemies better."

The 09 station is grand looking but my real thoughts lay on how will it look in the final product? A render can look a world different than the final product. I am sadly one of those who can be pessimistic and optimistic and right now I want to be pessimistic with Trainz 09 so I feel way better when it comes out with things I didn't think it'd have ^.^ :hehe:

The screenshots from Trainz's past were interesting but I have to say the model railroads put some of them to shame. :hehe: Others not so much.

A special thanks

The centralised forums and DLS are odd places quite unlike anything else and they are one of the strengths of Trainz.

The open discussions you see would probably not be permitted in any other software product but its very much the community that helps Trainz evolve. The problem is harnessing it to create a financially successful product and striking a balance, in some ways if its too successful then it invites more competition a bit like tight rope walking.

Aw shucks Mike. It was fun catching up and spending time with you guys too (and spotting only a couple of bugs in all the time there was very impressive).
