modern cars on highways

I don't have the answer, but I think part of it has to do with the roads. The roads I am working with generally show modern cars, but I notice routes set in the 40s and 50s appear to have cars from that era. Different road assets?

In Surveyor you need to choose the USA region. If you've chosen 1950s America, for example, I'm not sure if that's the right name or it might be transition era or something like that, you'll get 1940s/50s cars.

To change the region:

In Surveyor click on the Main Menu.
Click on Edit Route...
Change the region to one you like.

User Dave Snow created a right hand drive region, which has all kinds of modern cars. Be warned there's a lot of horn beeping, but it's more of what you want.

Unfortunately, the type of road doesn't change the kind of vehicle which runs on the roads.

What JCitron said could work if you don't mind the loud car horns beeping all the bloody time..

I did made a so-what modern traffic region that has cars driving on it that contains HP's cars and Auran's cars. I do plan to update it with more traffic for the region. If you are interested in this one, its on NARM's site (again, created by me)

How many times are we going to have to answer this question??

:)

Until N3V comes up with a less esoteric way of setting up a region for a route, or removes car traffic from the region and puts that into another interface, perhaps related to roads, which would make more sense.

I dare say, "Not gonna happen."

Probably related to all the backwards compatibility that is built-in to every version. Many years ago, back when the future of Trainz was being discussed, one possibility was to start fresh, making brand new mistakes without repeating the errors from the past. Of course it would have to sell better than all previous versions combined to justify the investment.

Well that was a track not taken and we're stuck with some fundamental design features. Don't know exactly how the region code works but if it was moved elsewhere, I don't see how it would not break every route that depends on it.

N3V could make a simple region editor... probably more likely to be tied into CMP, but would essentially be a bunch or toggles & some spots to list custom content (for example, custom default switch stands) and a list of road vehicles.

Ideally however, Trainz needs a new, better CCP.

thanks.. have a problem though..

I downloaded it but it says missing dependencies. still shows default cars

Sounds like those unknown deps are the HP cars. Had you tried right clicking on them and downloading them that way or not? Sometimes the DLS likes to hide them. If that doesn't help, let me know and I'll package them up with the traffic region ASAP.
