The 'norma'l sky was not implemented in the TS12 release of Westwold but will be a feature of TANE 1 and future releases. This is actually necessary because of 'shadows' being worth having in TANE (meaning that I have to rethink / rework the backgrounds) but it opens a whole can of worms.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a command in the config file for an asset to 'cast shadow' which is currently obsolete for anything but locomotives and rollingstock? Surely T:ANE, to accommodate for all older content, would be making use of existing commands for compatibility and changing the engine to accept those commands from assets previously unsupported?
I guess what I'm trying to say is if I were in charge of development this is the route I'd adopt (it seems the most logical and least costly), which would mean you'd simply have to report a 'false' command to any backdrops you don't wish to cast a shadow.
The route is set in the general "mid west" for now. It is based of the Kirkland and Dekalb in Model Railroader. Hope to have more progress soon.
Not the best screenshot, but it shows some of the things I've added.
