Sorry for the late reply.

TSM WWL SK 8 on the DLS. Still in WIP mode, its a virtual attempt at the HO scale Santa Fe Emporia Sub.

Height adjusted as close to the surface of the road as possible.

The very first one I created in TS10 on an older computer over a year ago was supposed to be my first ever release. The problem was it had a lot of broken assets and payware and wouldn't upload to the DLS. I revised the route without the payware but trying to fix or replace the broken assets was an ordeal and my computer at that time kept crashing Trainz. So I gave up and bought a new computer and now it I really don't have a lot of spare time with Trainz other than to make these little scenes I put together on one or two baseboards to do a screenshot. but I enjoy creating these little dioramas as much as I would creating a whole DEM type Subdivision. I'll download someone else route and edit it to my personal taste. So Sorry, I don't consider myself to be a very good route creator, especially when it comes to all the " bells and whistles" i.e. switches, signals, triggers, markers, etc. But if you find my screenshots inspiring, help yourself to something bigger and better. Anyway, time to put it in its proper place. The route that started Model Railroadz.

nice pics

Where can I find the buildings of the 3rd picture?

Thanks

Got a few more shots of the progress on my Moonbrooke & Western...

0-8-8-0 #2000 passes the new Moonbrooke Station, based off of the C&NW's Racine Station.

Best Regards,

Let me give you some friendly advice. NEVER use those very very lo-poly buildings for up-close shots. They look like crap to begin with and they make your screenshots look like crap.

Cheers!

Well, the reason i used them was for frame rate purposes. Until i get a more powerful PC that can give me better frame rates with more higher-detail objects, they'll be staying there.

Best Regards,

Thanks guys! :)

Chris, it's at the erecting hall... you should find all the necessary links here http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?110624-Emily-Bay-Branch-Model-RR-Layout-Release

Nice one, Felix. What are the odds... a scrapyard with three Sprinter Truenos on the pile?!
Haha, yeah a crazy local Trueno enthusiast had to get rid of his collection in favor of a minivan because he has family now... ;)

Seriously now, I never thought it would be that difficult to find plenty of good vehicles for a scrap yard.
All the HP cars do have a very intense ground shadow, which would look completely wrong on the upper rack level. Deane's and Colhad's cars do have a much more unobtrusive shadow, I can live with that. However the engine sound on Deane's non-derelict cars would be a bit out of place too. Then there are a lot of cars with a driver clearly visible... and everything intensely colored would look bad anyway.
So in the end you have just a few suitable ones, most of them aren't even US. And of those US ones the Chevy Vega's aren't really what one would call US sized.
Anyway, those Truenos at least from a distance look like having their hood removed... ;)

It is the best scrapyard I have ever seen. Normally, I read Trains Magazine online in homeroom, but since there wasn't anything new, I asked the teacher if I could read the Trainz Forum, so I started my day with those wonderful pictures!

Generally you run the fascia height lower than the track height. You also need to make sure you fix the vertex height of splines (yellow markers) so they don't trace the ground contour if your track is close to the fascia edge. If you want to start running the fascia edges higher than the track height you'll need to start getting creative with the way you use the splines and in most cases ensure the track is at least 20m away from the fascia to give texture splines room to be replaced with physical ground. Kimo likes to stretch the grounds of comfortable allowance in that respect. :hehe:

Heya FSF, sorry for quoting the pic, but what's the road being used there?

WIP. Experimenting with roads. Just a first attempt. Needs a lot of work. Hard to find any roads that use Australian coloured asphalt.

Here's a few for Kimo. I've made an unplanned dual level section of the Western Highlands layout to utilise the space better for a branch terminus over the western fiddle yard. I've done this the other way around though, the top layer is route ground layer, the fiddle yard is "underground". Just need to build a wooden baseboard spline to support the fiddle yard tracks now.

And here's a few long shots to get an idea of the overall layout shape.

Still a massive pigsty. But now that I've got the overall scenery theme sorted I can focus on laying the rest of the track. Might have to get a team of multiplayer beta testers together to have a session one night to test it out once the track is all sorted.

Just to give an idea of the overall size, this is modelled at HO scale. The tightest mainline curves are 4'7" radius. Branch and yards are no tighter than 3'7". The steepest grade (so far) is the mainline stretch out of the coal mine at 1/33, which from memory is just under 3.00 on the slope setting. The second branch, as planned, might get close to 1/25 grades which is about as steep as I'm willing to get without making it look like a toy railway.

Excellent job. Lookin forward to all these MR routes.

@Kimo505,
I kinda feel like you're sellin yourself short. Not saying you gotta do anything you don't really want to, but honestly, even if you only uploaded a few scenes here and there, Im sure people would like to use them as a starting place to create something..... What you've created is noteworthy to the point that people would like to see more of it. What form that takes is entirely up to you. But Don't knock yourself so much, you've done some really good work.

Youre right. I kind of have a complex about my route building. Like that little scratch on your car that nobody else notice, but it drives you crazy cause you know its there type of complex.

Where can I find the buildings of the 3rd picture?
Thanks

The main building is kit-bashed with these structures from Jointed Rail.

Kraft building
unloading shed
conveyor shed
JR cold storage

Great job on the staging area. Is the top level texture a spline? As I was working on my double deck layout, I realized That I should of started from the top down but This was all a first attempt with very little to work with as far as ground textures for the top deck go.

After seeing some of the other images in this thread I'm a bit embarrassed by the poorer quality of my work:

But at least it is available from the Download Station !~!

You Sir, are an artist - and one of the first to upload a "model railwayz" in the current genre. I believe that your route has been an inspiration for others to excel.
