Missing Mouse Cursor

Hi everyone,
I hope someone can help me. Affected : TS2010.TS12.
Last week when loading Trainz, my mouse cursor disappeared when getting to the second screen. It is only my Trainz software that is affected, no other software. When you load Trainz you get the screen where you decide to START or CONTENT etc. Cursor still there. In CONTENT MANAGER the cursor works, but in START it is missing.
I re-installed over the program, nothing. I un-installed end re-installed , nothing. I un-installed and went to registry and removed all traces , re-installed and nothing.
I checked all the other programmes, no problem. They all work.
There is no cursor, no trace, nothing. I have to press ESC or CTRL/ALT/DEL to get out. I cannot go forward or bacwards.
Pleeeeeze help, any-one of the IT boffins or software enginners who knows.
Thanks,

Leon:( :'(

First time I've seen this thread, could be a number of explanations why nobody responded but the main problem is insufficient information. What operating system, what brand and model of mouse, what mouse driver version, what graphics card, what driver version for that?

If I had the problem on my system I could easily pinpoint the common denominator - Example, all my games the mouse cursor appears and works fine, in TS2010 and TS12 I have no mouse cursor. Okay, so what do TS2010 and TS12 have in common that none of my other installed games have? OpenGL, all the other games are running in DirectX! Okay, so go back to a really old game, Quake II, set that to run in OpenGL. If the mouse cursor is there the problem is somewhere else, if the mouse cursor is missing in another OpenGL game, then the OpenGL settings for my video card need to be looked at. Trying TS2010 or TS12 in DirectX instead of OpenGL and having the mouse cursor show up would positively confirm that, if changing display modes don't fix it I need to look at the mouse itself.

If I'm already running in DirectX and it doesn't show up there, and changing to OpenGL does fix it, then I need to look at the DX troubleshooter, found by clicking START, then RUN, and typing dxdiag in the little run window.

I'm speculating all over creation here, simply because I just don't have enough information.

Try switching to Open/GL from DirectX or vice versa and see if this works.

G'Day Leon.

Had the same problem on my previous puter. Open GL didn't work/missing, so had to use DirectX. However, the cursor dissapeared because of an incompatibility between directX and the windoze magnifier. I often have that on coz I don't see too wel and need them big letters.
Moral of this tale, maybe you have some proggy running in the background that doesn't agree with DirectX or OpenGL.

Hope this helps a little.

nathan88 you will get quicker responses to your questions in this dorum if you register your version of Trainz!

Have a good one.

Anyone say the L word?

Nobody with the problem has mentioned "laptop" yet, is that the common denominator?

Anyway, another thing to try, Start, Control Panel, Mouse. Tinker with the settings in that, possibly turn off the setting to hide the cursor when typing text, if you have some kind of weird fancy mouse trails installed get rid of those and see if that fixes it.
