I hate asking about dependencies but I have downloaded, over time, serveral GP35 units that are missing the same dependencies. I can't remember where I got these units from so any help is appreciated.

What I need are:

bogey <kuid:138423:1100061>
bogey-1 <kuid:138423:1100062>

These are by joram24 and were used on units by him and sureshot28 (probably others as well).

Google, Bing and the DLS turned up nothing.

Thanks in advance for the help!
Duane

I actually copied those kuid numbers right out of the config.txt files.

The assets that I have that use these are:

GP35 Southern #2673H by joram24 <kuid:138423:1100060>
GP35 Southern #2676 by joram24 <kuid:138423:1100065>
GP35 W&LE 108 by sureshot28 <kuid:55290:2006>
GP35 W&LE 105 by sureshot28 <kuid:55290:2005>
GP35 NS 2672 by sureshot28 <kuid:55290:2000>

There would have to have been a typo in the config.txt file that was then copied from unit to unit but I would have thought that someone would have posted something about it somewhere that a net search would have picked up on.

Duane,

I've seen this situation with a a number of assets, so it's possible.

Been here, done this...

 Because if you were running TRS2004, the locomotives would show without problems, but their are certain errors that need correction for TS2006 & up. I'm running '10 also.

I downloaded the Southern GP35's today to see what shows...the bogeys did not come...the CG GP35's however, brought their bogeys with the download.

Gisa, wrote a question about upgrading the GP35's for the newer versions of Trainz...Joe has the new mesh, but it will be awhile before he gets this project done.

Here is the thread at RRMods.

The Southern GP35's as you may know, run trade-in ALCo type B trucks. My CMv3 shows only those Geeps as the dependant assets...possibly there are more that use them that I don't have(such as Soo Line, but downloading the Soo GP35's did not bring up '61 or '62).

You'll see on the RRMods thread that I have requested the location of your missing bogeys.

Also, check out what I did by manipulating several RRMods files to produce a correct hi-nose, short hood forward locomotive...

The meshes for these locomotives are in .pm instead of .im format. The texture maps are in .TEXTURE, or binary format, they need to be converted using PEVSoft IMtoPM & Texture to TGA tools. Quickshadows can be used to create shadow files off the .im files also. If your not familiar with these, it only takes a minute to configure them. Save the .pm files to a folder somewhere you can find them.

When you get the bogeys, you'll need to work those same files also.

Run the locomotives through CCP & locate the default .im & shadow.im files.

Also, since there is a thumbnail provided, you can add a thumbnails container(right-click the main folder in the folder tree at top, select...).

I used a cab from a payware GP50...when first offered, the download used a GP50r(reversed) cab...it was short-hood forward & a correct cab was supplied for the ones that wanted it....but that's another topic for later, if you wish...

Hope this helps!

Remember, Joram24 is well aware of this and planning updates, but it will take awhile, so don't ask when it will be finished...and they will be payware, but they will be worth it!

Backyard:

Thanks for the info and assistance.

I just figured out that TS2010 CMv3.2 will not commit .texture files! No wonder I am missing parts of some of these files!

Duane,

There's a tool (utility) available with your TS2010 install called Tex2TGA. This tool will convert the .tex files into TGA, and this will solve this error.

Look in the Extras folder in your TS2010 install for the utility and how to use it.

John:

I have been using that tool to convert .texture files but I had a habit of importing assets, usually by CDP, and, no matter what errors I would get, I would commit all of them before I stated "fixing" them.

What I think I have discovered in working with these older units from RRMods.com is that TS2010 or, more specificly, CMv3.2 will not commit the .texture files. Any of the GP35 units that were designed in TS2004 (which can be found at http://rrmods.com/trs04.shtml ) usually have .texture files for the 2 main body textures and the one main bogey texture in their files. If I import the CDPs, I can see the .texture files and can convert them using the tool you mentioned. But, if I commit them before converting the .texture files, I get a "hash" error and these assets end up with those files missing. I did not know that this was happening until now!

In "fixing" all the assets that I have for use in TS2010, I have come across quite a few that had missing textures. I now wonder if they were truly missing or if they were actually .texture files that CMv3.2 rejected.

Now I know I will have to change the way I handle imported assets to prevent losing textures.

backyard:

I found the bogeys. They are in the TS2004 Southern, W&LE and/or NS GP35 CDPs on the RRMods.com site (not sure exactly which one(s) - could be all of them!).

I think when I went to fix these bogeys a while back, they were missing their main texture file so I happily deleted them and, when I check on missing dependencies a couple days ago, discovered that they were "missing" and showing up as unknown is on the DLS. Duh!! See the above post for how I managed to screw all this up.

Sorry for the false start and for wasting your time. Your efforts were/are appreciated.

I look forward to new versions of these GP35s and will follow the progress on the website.

Thanks again
Duane
