The pics are so BIG, I had to give the links....

And once again... Auran has a run for its money! I'll be buying MSTS 2 instead of TS2009 I think, because it will be easier to get around here. They don't sell Trainz here in Tampa Bay from where I've shopped. I usually get it online from another state or something.... I'll still be here on the forums from time to time though, and I'm not gonna make a whole concession speech or anything. If I'm not around, you'll know where I am(either in TS09 Beta, Sims2/3, or MSTS 2)

Isaac,

I have seen these same screenshots long ago , and as far as a release date the article states , "Holiday 2009 " . Unless I missed something new , I'll pretty much have TS2009 mastered by then .

Please post where any newer release date has been announced .

I will not be buying MSTS2. I refuse to upgrade to Vista and destroy my computers performance for fancy graphics on my desktop. And knowing Microsoft, unlike the past, their newer games WILL NOT run on XP because they would rather everyone buy Vista so they can drop XP support

Pardon me then. I thought I'd share, but since you've already seen for yourself, you don't need me to make unnecessary posts. Obviously, after 2 years, I'm still a noob, not respected at least. Well, you don't need me to share anything anyways. Sorry I also mentioned how good Vista has been to me, I find it fast, efficient, and its not the crackpot story its made out to be, from my experiences(I've had the computer for about a year and have never had a problem with it, unlike my XP pc, which recently went into shop). And if I rubbed MSTS 2 in anyones face, then I apologize. One thing we can agree on, Microsoft is just "out for the cash". I'm refering ro Windows 7(Vienna) and Microsoft Surface(Coffeetable MultiTouch Screen Computer)

Isaac

I can also assure you that this certanly isn't a "sympathy" post, I'm just saying that I haven't proved anyone that im not a self-righteous, selfish, irresponsible, inmature teenager. By the sounds of these posts. Well its another one of those constructive criticism posts I guess? Just saying I should have posted a year ago? I never knew that this was such an "annoyance" I thought that there were many people interested in this topic. Well, you proved me wrong.

Hear Hear!

I was toatally unimpressed by MSTS, can't imagine MSTS 2 unless it is as easy to work with as FSX will be much chop either! Vista is going the way of the Dodo, MS are working on a new OS. My tech (unfortunatly the shop is closing) :'(advised me when I upgraded a month ago to put my money into hardware:)

Isaac

If you are in the USA and can afford it wjhy NOT buy tTRainz direct form Aussie, your dollar is much stronger than ours at the moment so my guess is even with postage, you stillbe pretty even, and you'd have a much better program:)

Hi Isaac,

To be honest, I did not detect any negative vibes aimed at you in this thread. Not at all. One problem with the internet that I find affects everyone (including me) is that it is hard to determine tone and meaning because we are reading and writing as opposed to speaking and listening. And even if people give you slack, so what? Don't let one or two rotten apples spoil the bushel right? Just be yourself...

I run win 2k and I have no problems with it. It was given to me by a friend who had to upgrade to win XP for his work. I can't complain about it...it's been about 6 years now and it still does the job it wants. Of course Microsoft wants everyone to upgrade their software so they can make a buck (I feel left out now that XP is the minimum for most games) but then again I only really play two or three and I don't have the system money or time to play the hardcore fancy stuff out there now. :D

MSTS2 might be interesting but I still think that when you compare all the assets on the DLS, the community here, the relative ease of routebuilding, trainz has it hands down on the competition. If Auran makes 09 great then it will speak for itself (I am not even sure I'll purchase it as my copy of TC 1 & 2 is collecting edust so to speak).

We'll see you when you return. :)

M$ has already stated several times that MSTS2 will run with XP also, no need to upgrade to vista.

Rick Selby, the MSTS2 lead developer, has officially stated that it will be compatible with XP as well as Vista.

MSTS was developed by Kuju. MSTS2 is being developed by Microsoft themselves, and uses their Flight Simulator game engine. Therefore it is not sensible to make any assumptions regarding MSTS2 based on MSTS.

Hello young Isaac, I think you are being a little too harsh with your criticism, as you've only had a handful of replies to your post to date. Personally, thank you for sharing your screenshots, it does show a glimpse of what MSTS2 has to offer and we can all decide for ourselves whether to take the plunge and purchase it when it becomes available or not. For me, I have always had an interest in European railway systems as a whole, and the Cologne - Duisberg layout does look very appealing, as I was in Koln only last November to watch the ice-hockey, and the DB railway system has always been of interest to me. However, I haven't seen any British routes or North American ones for that matter, so until I see those I cannot possibly commit myself as to where my hard earned money gets spent, maybe Microsoft's selling point will be the German layout because it is looks damn good, and they also have fancy schmancy animated people, but, do they have the animated cows and dolphins that we have in our Trainz world??? If the German layout is the best they have to offer and everything else is sub-standard then it'll be a waste of my money in my view, so, let's just wait and see what happens.
Thanks again for sharing, and whatever you do in your Trainzy life, as long as you enjoy yourself, that's all that matters.
And, I personally think that CathyH is quite correct in advising people to buy directly from Auran's shop, it puts money into the future development programme for one thing, and keeps this forum and the DLS running as well.
Whichever way you play your trainz Isaac, have fun.

And of course new things are always fun, BUT....there used to be posts here saying what a fantastic sim KUJU "would be" then how great "it is".How many people praise KUJU here now?

Whenever these types of threads pop up, I usually come out with the same comment, and today isn't going to be any different.

Why do people feel the need to choose one over the other?

If there's any aspect of a sim that impresses you, then why not buy it.
Trainz has a great Surveyor, Kuju Rail Sim does a lot of things well (jack of all trades, but master of none at the moment), and I'm sure that the crowning glory of MSTS2 will be the driving experience.

So why not buy all 3, and be glad that we are spoilt for choice.
Even in the current economic climate, it's hardly going to break the bank (maybe not the ideal phrase, lol).

:D

Walmart's web site currently lists Trainz Railwayz and there's an option to have it delivered to your nearest store.

My original question is still unanswered , did you see anything in the articles mentioning a new release date ?

With respect --- ,DLR
