Merging routes destroys track/objects of rout being merged

So, for the past hour or so, i've been trying to merge one route into another, but have only encountered broken track, broken objects, broken splines, and extreme hatred for this merging mechanic.

I don't have much time or solid internet at the moment, so here's some images that illustrate whatever is going on.

^^^ An image of what the other route -should- look like after merging into mine..

^^^ And here we have what it -actually- ends up looking like. For whatever reason, no matter the procedure, the routes really like to entangle and stretch any and all splines imaginable. No amount of layer merging or route-modifying will get this to work properly

Any idea on how to get this going, or should i just ditch the progress i already made on my base route and re-build it into the one i'm trying to merge?

When something similar happened to me it was caused by using Layers and they were not matching up during the merging process. I merged the layers of individual sessions together first then merged the sessions and it worked. If you haven't already watched it there is an informative tutorial on the Trainz TV channel about merging sessions which is likely worth viewing. Peter

No amount of layer-merging magic made this work, unfortunately. I did, however , get this working. And it was as "simple" as going through the entire route and disconnecting road/tracks/splines from industries and other static buildings. For whatever reason, that prevents the tracks and roads from going haywire when merged in to the current route

Just to add, in my experience, I also find:

Need to make sure there are no consists on either route as well, make sure one of the Route Layer Name is made unique, if both are named Route-Layer they will give you a Red Route button in the Merge Sub Menu........

If I messed something let me know.

I found these two things not addressed, plus what you said as well, caused me hours of headache.

Have merging for 2 years.......Goood luck to you , sorry to hear about your internet connection issues!
