Malfunctioning Crossings Etc

Cars stopping in the middle of tracks. Crossing gates coming down on cars. Cars not stopping at crossings. Gates and lights not functioning properly.

These are not necessarily the fault of the objects. These are not necessarily caused by you putting Traffic Stoppers in the wrong place. These are not necessarily caused by you wiring a crossing incorrectly.

These are just Trainz' way of injecting a little more reality into the game...

As an Englishman, on the outside looking in, I find that JawTooth feller pure comedy at times. I watch him for his antics as much as anything - and he plays a mean guitar too (as you say in America.)

Cheers

Well, ATLS Crossing are honestly not designed realistically. I wish Boat (the author of the ATLS system) would change some aspects of the system to make it more realistic. For example, real railroad crossings actually deactivate after 20 to 30 seconds ONLY IF the train is not on the "island" (over the road) and has not moved in 20 to 30 seconds. This would quite literally be the best thing ever! Crossings would always reset and NEVER "brake" again! Also, we could still use both the ATLS trigger systems (2 and 4) to activate the crossings and keep them on while a train is driving over a crossing. This would also allow us to stop in the crossing and then switch direction.

Did you watch the video?

On the other hand, you could take the time to learn how to do the kinds of things done by BOAT and create a perfect crossing system yourself.

My Level Crossing rule functions like that, provided you don't go too close to the crossing or else they'll stay activated.
TRC also has that feature.
Both are great as they offer realistic crossing operations, but the TRC seems to enjoy deactivating on 2 track crossings after a train passed a stopped train on the crossing.
