hi everyone, i got ts2009 and was wondering if there was a way to show a real life map on the baseboard so you can re-create a real route by following the line on the map. you could also put buildings and roads in the right places.

any help would be great, cheers.

Try these

Hi Xaero892

Look up the authors "g0akh" and "halfdan" on the DLS. They author Scenery assets that are 1km2 assets that you can append scanned maps or any other image to and they will cover one basemap in surveyor. All you have to do is scale the image you use (say from Google Earth) appropriately. There are several threads discussing this in more detail if you search the forum.

Hope this gives you a start point.

You can also create UTM tiles, which will allow you to do exactly what you want.
I used TransDem Trainz Edition. It is payware, but a very nice app if you are creating prototype routes.

Look for an updated version of Transdem, as I do not believe it can read the .gnd files in TS2009 after patching (I think it did work properly with the original released TS2009 (no patches))

Edit: TransDem Trainz Edition v2.0 is now available.

Before using TransDem, you use Google Earth to capture images of the area you are modeling. There is a two step process to do this, but it is very well explained in TransDem.

Once the UTM tiles are created and imported to your route, you will see the images that were on the original map.

I used TransDem not only to create these UTM tiles, but also to create the track map.
