making steep terrain, and tunnel entrance problems

I see in a lot of the DLS content, like tunnels, they often have land they created around them that is nearly vertical, and also very uniform... how is that done???

In addition to that, I am having trouble with tunnel insertion. Meaning, I go to use a tunnel spline with a premade entrance and exit, and often I wind up with white space where it cut the hole... is there a way to better manipulate the land around these entrances so they are more clean?

I don't want to have to keep hiding that white with rocks or trees, et...

I use a 1x1 dighole, and tug up and down on the 4 corners of the dighole, using terrain tab minimum radius, minimum sensitivity, and I would not have to switch from the 10m grid, to the 5m grid ... and I always seem to get by with a just a few twees and schwubberies covering holes

The dig hole is part of the tunnel when built by the creator. It is because they have not allowed the asset to stretch far enough to cover the dig hole. In most cases a rock wall spline or similar can be placed on either side to give them a vertical side, this can also hide any white space.

Lay your track/tunnels then create your terrain over it. Use the Track - Smooth Spline Height tool to smooth the ground below the track and create the cutting before tidying up the edges as required. Remember each time you left click the track with the tool the greater the width of the smoothed area.

Alternatively if you are laying track over already created terrain. Use the Track - Apply Vertex Height tool to the track/tunnel spline points to set their respective heights, effectively burying them into the terrain before again using the Track - Smooth Spline Height tool to create the cutting.
