Thanks Euphod. I don't really care for Amtrak either. Since some of the route has the Empire Connection, I usually use any Amtrak diesel locomotive and coach. I really like anything that has to do with the MTA.

Progress being made. So far, I have added tracks and scenery from Marble Hill to Spuyten Duyvil Station on the Hudson line. Here is a screenshot of a New Haven Genny leading shoreliners to Spuyten Duyvil and a CSX SD80Max with boxcars bound for the Oak Point yards.

Excellent work! What freeways are you using? I could definitely use them for my NYCTA route; I've decided to include the (A) 207 St yard in its entirely, including the connection to the (1). Also, I've been challenged to an (A) route build-off contest, so I'll need some freeways for when we get out to Queens!

Also, are you using a TransDEM for the topography?

Thanks. I am using the yarnish 3 lane highways. I think somebody by the name of streadway has them on the DLS. I generated the topography for this route through Transdem. Good luck with that (A line) route build off contest. You should win since you are the president of NYCTA simulation

In my experience, the assets by STreadway are the best in USA/Canada roads, intersections, and signage.

What about using the different combinations of Aashto Roads. They would look good in some places.

Some of them, yes, and in fact AASHTO has some road segments that are unavailable in the STreadway set. However, I have yet to see an AASHTO intersection, while YARNish and Treadway have intersections for most combinations of roads.

If I could fix an issue I've been having with ramp attachment points, I'd revise and release my own expanded freeway set.

Okay, now I have University Heights-Spuyten Duyvil along the Metro North Hudson line fully complete with scenery. I am taking a bit of a break from the commuter railroad and starting to work on the NYCTA subway. Specifically the A line from Inwood 207th street-190th street.

I've just stumbled across this thread and am another fan of that region, so I thought I'd give it a bump. Looks great.

If anyone can help me with this problem, then that would be great. I decided to merge my first DEM. I wanted to merge Westchester county with New York City. This is my result. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem. They don't line up equally with each other.

Are you sure the edge coordinates of the baseboards are the same? There could be some overlapping between the modules to merge or there could be a gap. I suggest to play around with the Surveyor merge utility to find a better alignment and/or check the TransDEM info files for the boundary coordinates.

Geophil may be right, the elevation difference across the border does not seem uniform, plus there's a whole portion of terrain that lacks any textures at all.

I have textures and scenery from 178th street George Washington in upper Manhattan to Riverdale in the Bronx. This screenshot with no scenery takes place at Ludlow which is north of Riverdale but south of Yonkers. For the last couple of days, I have been learning more of the transdem manual, trying to familiarize myself with terms such as UTM and vector. The other day, I completed the muengsten tutorial. I will not just get a DEM into trainz but my main focus is to get it into trainz efficiently. Something similar to how Zorronov made his DEM for the upper hudson river route awhile ago.

Ok, I have done a little work with Transdem. Today, I put a DEM of Putnam County in Trainz which is north of Westchester but just south of Dutchess County. Instead of having the whole DEM, in the trainz surveyor for about 90 minutes or so, I manually deleted around 1000 baseboards. I only kept the baseboards that were near interstate highways, or major U.S. roads that are close to tracks. Right now, one portion of Putnam County will cover the upper Hudson line (diesel only) and about 25 miles east of the Hudson line is the upper portion of the electrified section of the Harlem line with some of the abandoned Maybrook/Beacon line. If I try to merge the DEM, it may not piece together perfectly but that is ok. This is just trainz after all. If it doesn't merge correctly, I can probably create baseboards which isn't that much work. Now that I have trimmed the DEM, it's time to start working on the scenery. Screenshots of my progress will be posted soon. Also as a heads up, tomorrow is National Train Day. Can't wait to take pictures of some of the oldies and current passenger equipment along the Metro North Railroad.

Just thought I would give everyone a little update to show that I am still building the route. For the last two weeks, I have been learning some more about Transdem. I imported a DEM in trainz and deleted the areas that were not close to the rail lines. Right now, I am working on Putnam County in Trainz. It has 3 parts to it, almost similar to Zorronov's Hudson River route. So far, I have been working on the CSX River line around Livingston Island, Metro North Hudson line by Manitou, and it will also include some of the Harlem line. Screenshots will be around soon. If anyone can find some cab rides of the CSX river line or the upper Metro North Hudson line that would be great.
