Major Tri State Area Project

Yep, a couple of months ago when I was using Trainz 2009, I modified the built in ACMU by making it non powered so it could be a coach, removed the engine sounds, and in paint.net, changed the word "Metro North Railroad" to "Long Island Railroad" under the MTA logo on the ACMU. It came out to be faulty though so I did not continue on with it. I'm sorry but I no longer have that file for the converted ACMU. I did create some pretty nice Kawasaki M8's though.

A little update everyone. Below is a picture of Metro North Genesis hauling some Shoreliners towards Beacon, bound for Poughkeepsie on the Hudson line.

Here, we have a CSX freight hauling a new set of Metro North M8's from up north. They are bound for the Kawasaki Plant in Yonkers for some testing before hitting revenue service. This was taken just south of Metro North's rarely used Beacon/Maybrook line.

Today, we have a special run on the Hudson line. An Amtrak P42 pulling some Superliners to Penn Station. This picture was taken just south of Beacon. The next stop is Croton Harmon.

Metro North push pulls depart Beacon Station.

Watching a Metro North push pull set depart Beacon and a CSX freight approach the old the rarely used platform.

Hey, I'm new and just looked through almost all of this thread. I actually just got back from taking the Path from Jersey up to Westchester on the New Haven Line! I was wondering, is there a place where I can download the routes you have worked so hard to make? The website that the M6, M2 and all the others are on is nonexistent anymore, do you know where I could find those? Thanks

iissyy

Nice to hear about your trip iissyy. Right now, I don't think it's possible to get the M2's or M6's. As for the routes, the current one I am working on, "The Major Tri State Area Project" won't be available until it's complete. I am not sure if I still have a beta of a route I worked on a while ago, If you want, as an alternative, you can download some Metro North's M8's that I made for Trainz here with the help and credit of Drchoi21, Mikey186, and Acelejalde, http://www.mediafire.com/download/2aduz9q9ry975ra/M8.cdp#!
Thank you Robertoc45, When the route is done, I hope everyone enjoys it. Your LIRR route is looking good too bro. Right now, I am texturing around the Beacon area. Perhaps sometime during my winter break, I'll work a bit more on Sunnyside yard.

malikrthr have you ever thought about releasing this project by railroads or lines instead of one giant map? because i know it will suck for people that have lower end computers...I just wanna throw that out there, this project looks amazing and keep up the good work :)

Thank you Julenow. I have thought about braking down the project into portions at one point, but then I thought, it would be interesting to have a majority of the tri state area trains in one big map. I did think about the people with lower end computers so what I did with my DEM was, deleted the baseboards that were no where near the tracks. That would be about 500 useless baseboards that I deleted. When Trainz: A new era comes out, I plan on continuing the route in that, I built my Mid range Trainz PC 11 months ago and so far, it handles the route between 55 and 170fps.

Here are some updates on the route.

Mentro North GP8 bringing a new M8 set to Yonkers Kawasaki Plant.

An excursion train consisting of New York Central F7 hauling Connecticut pullman coaches along the Hudson. Just south of Beacon on a snowy day.

Conrail Geeps bound for Northern New York, bypassing Beacon's rarely used platform

Late night Metro North push pulls bound for Grand Central making a stop at Beacon.

Hello everyone. Great news. I finished my first semester of college, passed all tests, quizzes and subjects so far. I'll be getting my grades next week along with two more results from the finals. It feels great to have a 5 week break, after weeks of constant study for midterms and finals. For the next 5 weeks, I'll have some time to make some progress with the Major Tri State Area. I decided that I want to take a bit of a break from working on the upper Hudson line. I am going to make the effort to get some more work done on the SunnySide yard and trackage into Penn Station. Would anyone have any advice on catenary. I am not really sure how to work with the catenary. I know they are the overhead wires but I know in Trainz, there are things like transmission wires, crossover wires, and gantry bridges. I would also like to learn about the different signals, where they should be placed along the track and the rules for each signal. Hopefully, if I get a majority of Sunnyside done, I can begin to work on the MTA #7 subway line from Queenzboro Plaza to the Future Hudson yards #7 terminus on the West Side.

Here, we have the first set of Metro North M8's sitting in the Sunnyside yard about to start another test run. Hopefully in the future, we will see them running into Penn Station via Hellgate Bridge.

Merry Christmas and happy holiday everyone :), Have a great day. I know I posted this screenshot already but I thought this would be a great Christmas screenshot.

Some work done in Sunnyside Queens. Progress is looking pretty good for this area.
