I am looking for user "magicland" in order to get some of their assets upgraded to TS12. Has anyone see this person lately?

Ken

He's been gone for a while, his last post was June of last years. If I remember correctly he did have a web page.
edit-He run the site called Protrainz.com but there doesn't look look there as been any activity there for some time.

Maybe I can help
I'm not to bad at upgrading older assets.
I will attempt update 3 of your favorites.
What are the KUID numbers and name.
I may already have them.
If not PM e-mail so I can send updated CMP

If you would like to try your self
I use PEV's AssetX, PM2IM, QuickShadows, PaintShop v8.1 and Notebook or Explorer.

I am looking to get his PRR p-cars fixed so they work with TS12 and add commodies. Some of them work and some of them do not (don't remember which right now). I can do most of the work but I would rather he does it or gives me permission to do so since I want to put them back on the DLS so I can use them in multi player sessions. Yes, the cars do need repainting but that is for someone else.

PEV's AssetX has a "Add Passenger Queue" in the Tools menu.

Ok Ive done what I can here.

That is easy enough but does not help MP since I cannot put them back on the DLC without permission from magic.

Thanks.

Did you check to see if there are any release notes with the cars? Sometimes there will be and will have permissions included.

My name is Tim. Im new to Trainz and had sort of the same question about Majicland's Content. My question is in regards to the SP Daylight Articulated Car Set. I purchased TS2012 about a month ago so I'm very new to Trainz. I downloaded the SP GS-4 from Jointed Rail and needed rolling stock/passenger coaches to go with it. My Grandfather used to work for SP when he returned home from WWII and he was an engineer on the Coast Daylight so I sort of have a personal conection with SP. My question is: Is there a way to make the SP Daylight Articulated coaches compatible with TS 2012? the KUID for all the cars are: KUID:58843:99,KUID:58843:98,KUID:58843:108,KUID:58843:104,KUID:58843:109,KUID:58843:107,KUID:58843:102,KUID:58843:96,KUID:58843:106,KUID:58843:95. Thank you any info is appreciated.

Yeah, it really sucks when a lot of 2004 content doesn't work with 12 because the content has the red ! error, and sometimes the errors are texture errors rather than config errors, and are not easily fixed. How do you fix a missing texture error, or could not be loaded error? 12 has no compatibility mode like 2010. Sure, I could just use the error content on 2010, but 12 has some improvements like doppler sound, route can be zoomed out far, some content and routes will only work in 12, try to backdate some stuff to 2010 and it gives you texture.txt is missing error and the files are in .texture format rather than .tga format with .txt files. Now the patch is out which fixes the merge bug in merging routes with lots of scenery to blank or other routes, with the bug present you can enter the scenicked route and merge blank or routes with only track, roads, and very little scenery to it, but not routes with too much scenery to each other, or attempting to merge too much scenery routes to a blank route while in the blank route.

When you download them for use in Trainz 12, the 'Content Manager' (or CM as it's often called) will pop up. This can be accessed by selecting 'content' when the 'Launcher' comes up.
If a yellow '!' shows up, it'll work without any problems. If it shows a red '!', It cannot be used. You can tell when you are in Surveyor and look at the trains; When you look at the trains it'll show the name of the car, but the name is shown in red, which means it cannot be used. If you download it and get a red '!', you need to highlight it, right click and select 'View Errors and Warnings'. Errors are marked with a red circle with a white 'x' in it. These are the ones you need to worry about. Warnings are marked with a yellow triangle and a black '!' in it; don't worry about these. There's probably a thread about problems with Magicland's content on the Discussion Forums, so find it and read the posts. The posts could help you out.
I also must point out that his Daylight passenger cars will not load and unload passengers, but if you want to make it haul passengers, there should be a thread about that too.

I know all this, I am trying to get him to fix the assets or get permission to do it myself. After looking at the assets he has no license and friends have said he has not been seen for about a year.

Thanks

I clicked 'reply' instead 'reply with quote', for that post was for speedbumptrucker1. I noticed that he had just joined and I had problems with the Daylight passenger cars, so I wanted to let him know what to do when that red '!' appeared in the CM if he downloads them. My bad.

Ah, my missunderstanding, his reply did not register with me :hehe:. With magiclands stuff it is hit of miss.

Thanks

When I go to CM I get the Red Exclamation. I doesn't matter to me if the cars are passenger enabled or not. I would just like to have the cars to go with the SP GS-4 loco. I would like to learn how to convert them to TS 2012 standard just for my own personal enjoyment if the license doesn't allow them to be put back on DLS. Thank you everyone for the advice and welcoming me to Trainz.

Can't help you there speedbump... as I have not tackled the Pennsy cars yet, I am waiting for PEV's utility to get fixed for the "uniform color" issue. As for the license I have not seen one in his equipment.

I downloaded PEVS and tried editing myself to bring the cars up to TS2012 standards but to no avail. I would greatly appreciate anyone that can. Im still a rookie newbie to Trainz. Thank you everyone that has responded so far

Yes, Please let me know what to do. Or can anyone update them for me please???????:Y: I would forever be in your debt. I get the red '!' in CM. I opened the errors and warnings and it said read "progressive meshes no longer supported":'(.

Here are the warnings and errors I'm getting, Error: The Tag '0-<kuid:58843:50020>' is not permitted within a container of type 'traincar'.Error: The Tag '1-<kuid:-1:42004201>' is not permitted within a container of type 'traincar'.Error: The Tag '2-<kuid:-10:149>' is not permitted within a container of type 'traincar'.Error: Progressive meshes are no longer supported by Trainz. Though these meshes may work in Trainz, it is recommended that you switch to a LOD mesh.

The first three are easy. Go to the content manager and select the car that's causing the problems. Right click on it and select 'edit' and then select 'edit in explorer'. An icon that looks like a black hammer and wrench cross will appear. This means that the object is 'open for edit'. You can find all content that's open for editing by selecting the 'Open for Edit' tab.
When you select 'edit in explorer', a file will pop up. This contains all the things needed in order for an object to be available for use. Select 'config.txt'. When you open the 'configuration file', better known as 'config file', scroll through it and find the Tags that are causing the problem. Simply select them and delete them. Save the changes to the config file and then exit out of the config file and the file that popped up. Left click on the object, select 'edit' and then select 'commit'. This will solve your problems.

P.S. I selected 'SP Daylight Chair car', made by magicland with the kuid <kuid:58843:107>, right clicked and selected 'View Errors and Warnings', and the last two errors you listed showed up as warnings instead of errors. I don't think I mentioned this, but when you select 'View Errors and Warnings', at the top it'll say 'Validating', then changes to 'x errors and x warnings' (I'm using 'x' to represent a number). Remember: Errors show up as a red circle with a white 'x' in it, while warnings show up as a yellow triangle with a black '!' in it.
