Looking for Track Guides

Hello

As the title says, I am looking for Track Guides. I have some that I had used with good success in Trainz 2004, however when I try to used them in later versions they don't work. For some reason they disappear as you move along them and will reappear if you move back towards their start point. These guide came in various straight and curved lengths. So I am looking for something to replace them with or find a way to repair the ones I have.

Track guide, straight, 1 mile. Outer spacing rings for 5 meter centers from Mr. Den
<kuid:141417:60004> as well as his other straight and curved guides,
Thanks for any help I may get.

I use MB Quad track to lay 4m track spacing, as I find 5m just too wide spacing

Looking down directly from straight above, zoomed in, I adjust adjacent track spline points by hand, eyeballing them, so that they just touch the outer tie edge

I find all curve guides extremely hard to use, and very limiting

All my curves are laid by this method, by measuring back an equal numeral using the Trainz ruler:

Look on the DLS for content by bekaember. He has many track spacers, curved and straight fixed track sections. They work fine in TANE and I use them all the time.

Regarding disappearing assets, especially on the very long ones, you may have to check "process objects behind camera" in your settings. If this is unchecked, once you get past the center of the object (or asset origin), it will be behind you and disappear. This may reduce your frame rates a little, but you can always leave it on for Surveyor purposes and then turn it off again when driving.

Cheers!

Don't even bother with track guides that do not click onto single, double, or quad track ... If they do not click on, they just bend and deform the straight section behind it ... you will find yourself constantly having to custom rotate a track guide, and your custom fine rotation will be way off, wrong way to go ... track guides are poop !

I used the GFisher PRR track guide (which needs constant custom fine rotation), and I tried all the rest of the guides ... they will help guide you into your improper curve, right into a blind box canyon, and do not work on a DEM, and all track guides are total garbage ... as they control you ... you can not control them

Even FT track has it's limitations:

Measure back an equal distance, and apply spline points ... eyeball the curve spline points, adjusting them so that they just touch the outer edges of the adjacent ties

That FT track isnt working because you arent adjusting the radius, just moving it back.... Of course its not gonna work! As far as track guides go, FT curve track guides work great (as long as you use them right, *cough cough*). And yes, for multiple tracks, you WILL have to adjust your spline points accordingly.

How do you think I made well over 1,000,000 track spline points absolutely perfect on my route ?

Well it was through hard work ... as no track guide will do the job for you ... You must do it yourself ... manually

I use FT track all the time ... but how are you going to know beforehand, what track guide radius to pick ?

I have absolutely no problem laying any curves, turnouts, yard ladders, and track spacing

Most track guides are absolutely huge, several thousand foot radius ... and most of my curves are 250' radius, or less

Now the first person who makes a "Clip On" trackside asset 4m & 5m track spline point guide, that you can slide around a curve or straight ... That will be truly useful !

Ensure PROCESS BEHIND CAMERA is checked in surveyor settings. I had the same problem, this fixed it for me.

Hi Chris

I did that and it did not help, however I did find my problem. It has to do with the draw distance, I laid down a 1 Mile guide, went to the end and increased my draw distance until it reappeared, problem solved.

I hope this may help some of those that had the same problem.

I have a few Radius guides on the DLS for working in HO scale Model Trainz in TS12, not sure yet how they work in TANE. Search my user name or KUID:655957

Hi Mike: what was your draw distance set too and what did you change it too? Mine is normally set to 3000m/ft. Glad you got it sorted out, I use the straight guides a lot along with the 4m and 5m track spacer.

For use in the UK, 3.5 metre track spacers are available on the DLS including some I made for TRS2004 called Way Gauge and including double, triple and quadruple track. Others by andi06 from the same version.

HI Chris

I have the draw distance set to 8000m and all the guides work fine, I have not checked on how that affects my performance when playing on a route yet, but if it was a problem I would just change back when not laying track
