Looking for Quarry Content - Need Help

Hello All,

I'm fairly new to Trainz, and am currently trying to build a Quarry in Surveyor.

I am in need of your kind help please...

The item I'm looking for, (don't know it's name) is a "bucket slide or chute" that is loaded at the top of a quarry and the buckets, or cars, are lowered or slid down the wall and unloaded, as the empty ones are raised back up. This is an old style quarry for products like "slate and ore, or gravel"....

Any help would be dearly appreciated deeply....

Thank you for your time,

HighTechOkie

Welcome to the Trainz forums. HighTechOkie.

I suggest that you register your Trainz version so it appears in your station line next to your login name as that will assist us in knowing which version of Trainz you have, as well as, indicate your are a legit user so you won't be pestered about being unregistered. :) If you have trouble registering, please contact the helpdesk via the link above. They will also assist you should you have registered under a different name than the one that is shown here to consolidate the accounts.

Having said that, you need to check the Download Station for various mining and quarry equipment. There maybe similar items to what you are looking for. See my image below of a quarry I setup on a route I've been working on. I used models (assets) from various content creators, bendorsey, shortline2, and many others to complete the scene. I suggest that you search the DLS for these creators and you should find plenty of assets that may suit your product.

Hello JCitron,

Thank you for your quick response...

I have registered my Trainz 2009 WBE and and have checked all my Settings, so I don't know why it's not showing up...

I have also been diving through the DLS for some time now, and have seen the item in question before, but cannot recall what it's "politically correct" name / description is...

Thanks for the screenshots, yet those are not quite what I was looking for...

Kind Regards,
HighTechOkie

Contact the helpdesk... You're not the only one with the version not showing up in your list...

If you are looking for the big mining type equipment, there's a German creator that made some of those, but I don't have TS12 or CM running at the moment - I'm actually live storm chasing on YouTube... StormChasingvideo.com has a live chase in KS right now. I heard there's also a big one near OKC as well...

I'll check a bit later and post more screenshots. My quarry view is probably not quite what you wanted anyway... My quarries are for blocks of granite - it's supposed to be New England and Rockport/Gloucester area.

John

Thanks John,

Storm Chasing...Cool Beans...!!!

I'm a Born & Raised Okie...from Southeast Oklahoma and was in OKC when the tornado hit Moore,OK. I was driving to the Children's Hospital in OKC to get to my girlfriend right as the "nader" was approaching.

Good Luck, Stay Safe & GodSpeed...

Back on Subject:...I might have found a reference to an "Incline"

That's great... I'm glad you found something.. Check out the stuff by Ben Dorsey (bendorsey) and Linda (Shortline2). These might be helpful.

I'm watching on YouTube and browsing forums so I'm plenty safe. I was also in OK when the day before the Moore storm hit, and even rode through Moore the night before. You stay safe too.

I'm not sure if this is what you had in mind, but here's a quick look at a couple of different types of haulage systems that were fairly typical in the U.S. at both mining and quarrying sites, during the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Gravity was often used to power these systems, e.g., a the weight of a loaded bucket or monitor car going down the mountain was enough force to bring an empty bucket/monitor back up to the loading facility at the top of the mountain. Some system used electric motors and wenches.

Perhaps someone can tell us if Trainz creations such as these exist... ;)

Wire Rope Aerial Tramway Haulage Systems

Aerial tramway haulage systems such as these were used to haul sand, gravel, stone, coal, etc.

Incline Systems

Inclines, many of great lengths 1,000 ft. or more, lead down the mountain to loading facilities located along the rail line at a lower elevation.

Hey WVA-USA,

You nailed it with the last photo...

There used to be a couple of coal mines using a gravity incline plane still in operation through at least the 1970s along the W.Va. Turnpike. As a kid, it was fascinating to watch the cars go up and down the tracks leading to the tipple at the bottom, while traveling with my parents on the way to Charleston. Both mines had long inclines; one was probably over 900 ft. in length and probably dropped around 600 ft. in elevation.

The gravity plane haulage system was used extensively here at coal mines in Southern W.Va. and throughout Appalachia. At least one quarry once located near my area apparently used the same method until the 1950s.

The basic function of a gravity plane is illustrated in the diagram below:

Loaded mine car (A) is run on slope car (B) in the drum house at the top of the incline. The weight of the loaded car hoists empty car (D) on the slope car (E) at the foot of the incline. The hoisting rope attached to the slope cars B & E passes around the drum (F), and the motion of the cars on the incline is controlled by a strap brake on the drum operated by level (G) on landing (H).

At the bottom of the plane, the loaded cars are run off the slope carriage over the tracks (I) to a dump (e.g., a tipple), while the empty car is returned to the same slope carriage to be hoisted to the top by the next descending loaded car.

That looks to be based on Ben Dorsey's Bobcat Mine. You might want to check it out too.
