Longest Train Ever?

Snippet: . . .why not try making the train up using a single low-poly car and several not-so-high-poly locomotives (such as the default GP7s and 9s for example).

Oh deary me. That's a bit like saying "If you're trying to save on paint, I suggest you paint a white cat in a snow storm." Just hang the blank canvas and claim the prize,

I've just assembled 1,000 Pilbra ore cars (filled) and 9 Rode River locos on the Rode River route supplied with Trainz. I've got 400 moving fine but I have to join the rest up and set up my video recorder. It's not an urgent task, but I'll record the results when I get time.

Snippet: Longer one in planning, too! Hmmm, let's see, I think I'll use about.... Er, let's just say I'll get a twenty baseboard empty layout, lay track from end to end, and see whether I can move a train with 4,000 cars. Loaded, of course. Of course!

Video proof required please. Otherwise, why bother?

I mile long train-5280'

By the way: If you lay a ruler across several blank baseboards, and stretch a straight track overlapping each end of the ruler, a little longer than the ruler...and keep adding 40 foot baxcars and such until the 1 mile long track is filled from one end of the ruler to the other...save it as "New Consist"...Rename it as "1 Mile Long Train"...ta da...a handy tool to measure track distances, for marking mileposts.

I've actually tried a 1000 car train made up entirely of the lo-poly/paintshed 40ft boxcars and got them moving with just 1 built-in Big Boy. Framerates were less than 5 FPS on Robe River Iron (default route, on my current computer), but after about half an hour, the train was going over 40 mph. I saved the consist, but I'm not sure if I still have it now.
