Never the less: New York & Atlantic has been operating freight trains on LIRR tracks for close to 20 years. President Paul Victor says the loaded lumber car went off the tracks after the engineer headed west instead of east and hit a piece of safety equipment called a “derail.”

Sounds like an AI driver missed a track mark then went back to get it as he ignored the direction marker and blew through the derail and switch.
