Lets have a bus thread !

There should be be 3 sydney Trolley buses on the DLS in the next few days and also Paul barn700 is working on sydney 1/2 cabs and for the low cost of $12us you can have 4 diffrent liveries .

If you do not add the trolley poles to my buses they could be used as normaly buses.

Yes, I in favour of having more 'bus' models and indeed function in Trainz.

As far as models go I know we will all have our own favourites, but if we get lucky with the skilled asset makers with similar interests we could create a wide range of suitable buses.

Generally bus manufacturers build for a wide range of customers - with a limited variation in bodywork. A good start point would be the creation of some of the more generic models - e.g Leyland Atlantean etc with a range of different bodies, which would allow the reskinners the scope to produce the variety of liveries.

I guess I am looking at something like Andi06's Daimlers but for other makes etc. Hey, even these models could be 'tweaked' with different radiators to provide AEC/Leyland / Crossley etc.

The ability to add specific buses within a route or scenario would make a real difference.

Here's hoping

If your looking for British buses which are made for Trainz, then try this site...

http://www.ltsv.com/t_proj_04.php

Just scroll down and you will see lot's and lot's and lot's of modern buses, from all over the UK.

They are all in CDP format, so you can download the entire item straight from the website.

There is STATIC, TRAFFIC and DRIVABLE versions.

I do not know if they work in Trainz 2010, but they worked error free in Trainz 2009.

Hope this helps

Would also like to see older driveable North American Highway buses, possibly a Eagle 10, Scenicruiser, MCI Models 6, 7 and 8. . if anyone interested. Would have to function in both TRS 2006 and 2010.

:cool:I have both driven and rode the Americruiser...no errors or warnings...

However there were warnings about m_torso_ and m_pants_ textures in the Greyhound Canada bus...that means the driver is wearing a "white" uniform...

One thing about these coaches, the rear wheels pivot...looks like it snakes around corners...

All considered they make a facinating ride!

in Greyhound Canada (all obsolete assets updated and changed in the config file):

Warning: Progressive meshes are no longer supported by Trainz. Though these meshes may work in Trainz, it is recommended that you switch to a LOD mesh.
Error: The texture 'greyhound_canada_body/med gray.tga' is not a power of 2, please resize it.
Error: The texture file 'greyhound_canada_body/_pants_.texture.txt' contains non-ANSI characters. Textures must be ANSI.
Error: The texture 'greyhound_canada_body/??' failed to load.
Error: The texture file 'greyhound_canada_body/_torso_.texture.txt' contains non-ANSI characters. Textures must be ANSI.

in Greyhound Americruiser (all obsolete assets also updated and changed):

Error: Texture 'greyhound_americruiser_body/_TORSO_.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'Greyhound_Americruiser_Body\Greyhound_Americruiser_Body.IM'.
Error: Texture 'greyhound_americruiser_body/_PANTS_.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'Greyhound_Americruiser_Body\Greyhound_Americruiser_Body.IM'.
Warning: Progressive meshes are no longer supported by Trainz. Though these meshes may work in Trainz, it is recommended that you switch to a LOD mesh.
Error: The texture 'greyhound_americruiser_body/med gray.tga' is not a power of 2, please resize it.

I have just fixed them to run in TS2010. Its an easy fix but there a few items to do.

1) You can ignore the warning about PM meshes not being supported. This will not stop them running since it is only a warning not an error. If you want you can convert the PM meshes to IM meshes using PEV's PM2IM tool if you want.

2) The mesh is looking for the _pants_ and _torso_ texture files which have been missed from the downloaded files. Open the bus for edit in explorer and copy the files m_pants_1.bmp, m_torso_1.bmp, m_pants_1.texture.txt, m_torso_1.texture.txt somewhere else.
Rename the copies of the 2 pants files to read _pants_.bmp and _pants_.texture.txt. Open the texture.txt file in Notepad and change the file name in this file to _pants_.bmp and save.
Rename the copies of the 2 torso files to read _torso_.bmp and _torso_.texture.txt. Open the texture.txt file in Notepad and change the file name in this file to _torso_.bmp and save.
Now copy these 4 new files back into the assets body folder.

3) 'med gray.tga' is not a power of 2, please resize it.' means that the file med gray.tga is not the right size. Open this file in a graphics editor such as Paint.net, resize it to 128x128 pixels and save it over the existing file in the same uncompressed TGA format as the original one.

4) Now commit the asset and it will now work OK

 Both assets have been updated, so select both, right click and select view in main list and delete them and re-download.

Even if they show errors, they should show in Railyard and Trainz.

glad that some one started a thread like this...:D

would love an AEC RouteMaster , that is driveable and loadable..... would even be willing to pay....

Yes, 6 years ago....and it's been over 2 years since someone posted....not a hot topic, apparently...
It does have an interesting 2 year cycle, though.....a few in 2008...few more in 2010....again in 2012...and now in 2014...
