layouts on CD

I hope I'm posting in the right place. I have five layouts that I designed on a CD. I had to delete Trainz from my computer and reinstall it. I am trying to put the 5 layouts back in Trainz using Windows Explorer. I went to My Computer-Local Disk(C:)-Program Files-Auran-TRS 2004 (that is the version I have)-World-Custom-Maps. I installed them in maps and they all show up as being installed in maps but when I go to Trainz they don't show up in driver or surveyor. All five layouts have Text Document, GND, TRK, BMK, and OBS files. Any help would be appreciated as I have many hours of work in these layouts.
Thanks, Chuck:'(

Question, did you export the map file as a .cdp? That is the format that Trainz recognises.

Secondly, thats about as much help as ANYONE will give you. Please register your copy of Trainz at www.auran.com. We cannot and will not give support on this forum if you do not have it registered.

I registered my copy of Trainz back in 2004 when I purchased it

I went on www.auran.com and tried to register my copy of Trainz and it said that it was already registered. This is very annoying because I have done everything legally and I'm being treated like a criminal. I am 76 years old and have better things to do than pirate software. I don't understand what you mean by it's not showing next to my user name. I went on your profile and I see nothing next to your user name either. I'm not trying to be a pain I just would like to know what I have to do to be recognized here. I tried.

See just next to my name there is a graphic which supposedly resembles a railroad map which sows all the registered versions of the sim I own. Yours is blank but should show TRS04.

Right at the top of the page is a link to 'Planet Auran', that will take you to a page with 'Serial Numbers' on a tab down the left edge of the page. Have a crack at registering your serial number there. If it won't take you need to contact helpdesk. Either you have registered already with a different username or some other glitch has befallen you. Nearly all of these reg hassles get fixed but the community does take unregistered users pretty seriously.

Back to your problem, you do have the directory structure correct and the 'Maps' folder hasn't found its way into the 'Dispatcher' folder by mistake? That would lead to an installed-but-no-show situation...

For a more mature gentleman it would "feel" as though you are being chastised.
Be aware that this is the standard approach for members to question your status
if your registrations don't show in the fora.
Like.. I have paint shed somewhere and I can't wait to get it showing in here too 8^)
People need to understand these are not personal attacks.
Please dont take offence its just how its always been and will always be.
CheerZ!

Don't worry peghorse, I have paintshed too, and it doesn't show up alongside my username either, because it came pre-installed with Trainz 2006, after I had installed Trainz 2006, it asked me, did I want to install paintshed too, so I said yes, and it installed paintshed along with a ton of white locomotives and various white rolling stock.

As long as you have a Trainz version alongside your name, you should be just fine.

Hope this helps

Wandering off topic but Paintshed only shows up for the separately-purchased version which was only available till about the time of TRS04 or UTC, now I think about it it might even have just been till the end of Trainz 1.x. Anyway the later free-in-the-box version does not rate a 'station stop'...

Correct Andy - Painshed only shows if purchased separately :hehe:

Hi Coinshooter,

I notice you said you registered back in 2004 when you purchased Trainz but I note your current profile shows your join date as April 3rd, 2007? Did you register previously under a different user name? If so only Auran can 'fix' your problem and for that you would need to contact the Helpdesk (button at the top of the page).

Hope this helps.

Ron

Thanks for your help everyone. Now I'm not sure if I registered in 04 or 07. I'll contact the help desk and see if I can get this straightened out.
Thanks again-Chuck

Assuming that you saved your routes as CDP files (Trainz format), you may want to consider acquiring a newer version. Trainz 2006 and up includes a component known as "Content Manager". Content Manager greatly simplifies importing, exporting and managing your Trainz content. However, please note that versions below TRAINZ 2009 are no longer supported by the publisher.

Ok. I finally got my layouts onto Trainz. I didn't have service pack 4 installed. When I installed it my layouts went into Trainz. Now I have to see if I can get this registration thing straightened out. I found out that at one time I had a user name of chuckster instead of coinshooter. This is getting confusing. Thanks for all your help so far.
