Layers question

With the Layers tab open in Trainz22PE 132285, I can easily see what layer is active, visible and locked or not.
I keep all major parts on their own layer: rails, roads, buildings etc as well as things like guides and other special objects that could be too close to others making them difficult to select.
What issue(s) am I missing?

That is exactly how I use layers. My typical route has 10 route layers and I don't run into any problems.
