Laptop got malware - re-install of 2006 and my backup didn't restore my route

Over the weekend I got malware on my laptop, which left me with no restore points and who knows what shape my files are in. My hard drive is partitioned so I can re-install the OS on my C drive but retain my data files on my D drive. Before doing anything I made a copy of my 'local' directory and assets file from Trainz 2006. Then I reinstalled Win 7 in the C drive. For reasons mentioned above, I install Trainz in my D drive, so I re-installed it back over the existing directory. Then I renamed 'local' to 'local-new' and copied the old 'local' folder back into the 2006 directory, renamed 'assets' and fired up the app.

The issue now is that there is a route I've been spending quite a bit of time on and it disappeared. In learning this simulator there has been a lot of frustrating moments followed by joy when I've figured out my problem. Now all of that's gone. The route name is there and one Basemap (out of 8), but no track, roads or spline points. I have not put any scenery in it yet, so that's not an issue.

The ultimate question is this: where did my route go, and where could it be? Should I have copied other directories before doing the new install? I am using an online service for backups so I think I have a copy of things the way they were before the crash. Are there any files I should be looking for in the backups to copy back?

Any help would be appreciated.

SP - True ... depending on your build ... but if you have Build3337 no SP is needed

Edit: Did you recieve my PM ? If so, let me know how things go.

Answering both questions -

Yes, only built in routes are showing.

I've only been a Trainz guy for the last 2 months, so there has been a lot of learning, but much more to come. I have never put a SP on my install. From what I have gathered, my build of Trainz 2006 doesn't require a SP upgrade? If I'm wrong, then I'll gladly do whatever I have to. Somewhere I read that only a certain build required it, and I have build 3335 which didn't fall into the scope of that post/thread.

Where do you mean "the sticky" at the top of the forum? Pardon my ignorance but I'm not seeing it.

Here's an interesting twist. I restored my 'local' directory from a backup for the second time, and now the session is there, but when I go into Surveyor I have neither the sessions nor the route.

How do I get these back? Does anyone have an idea?

Build 3335 doesn't need the patch, you already have it.

@cascaderailroad - yes I did get your PM, and replied to it. I'm trying to slip this project in between some work projects I'm working on, and missed it originally.
