Kuji Rail sim release date Friday 5th October 2007

I am absolutely sold on this sim after watching that high quality vid.:)

WOW! Now that's how to play a train sim...:)

They've got my money and I'll say goodbye to this toy train game here.:)

In Apple format? What, are they only appealing to the crazies? :hehe:

(And no, I can't play the video so I have no idea if it's worth the money or not.)

Cheers

Nix

Uh-oh

Four real-world routes.
The game comes supplied with four routes (the four included are determined by the country of purchase). Each one is on average 90 miles long and both historic and current environments are featured.

Notes:
The game has been developed in conjunction with the following railway partners: First Great Western (UK), Deutsche Bahn (Germany), Union Pacific (USA). Note: Not all content is included in the version of the game supplied in different each region.

Publishing partners: Europe – Electronic Arts; USA – To be announced (shortly); Rest of World – to be determined.

... so does this mean they're going to create 4 Different US routes for the US release? How long is that going to take? And is UK and US the only 'themes' ?

Oh and what if someone in for eg. the US wants the UK routes? I can imagine all the black market swapping/trading going on :P

KRS looks good, but a video of trains running tells us little about its functions, what will be available and how user friendly it will be to use. I will be getting KRS, but I'm certainly not rash enough to say that I won't be using Trainz, especially with the additional features slated for TC3.

WHAAAT?????!!!!!! THAT'S SUCH A STUPID IDEA!!! Looks like I'll have to order from a UK site. What bozo at Kuju thought of that???

It appears to be a true simulator and not a toy train game. It may not be user friendly either but if it isn't, it may keep the crazys away.

After what I've read around about '04, '06, and TC, it appears that all Auran is doing is selling upgrades without fixing the original bugs everybody has been complaining about.

I'm looking for something more realistic and not so toyish. MSTS fits that bill but is way too buggy with no support anymore. I believe KRS/KUJU is the answer, IMHO.

Yes, read here http://www.railsimulator.com/About-Rail-Simulator
Note: Not all content is included in the version of the game supplied in different each region.

When you have question to the release in other countrys read here
http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewforum.php?f=156&sid=496aa43f5dc43b500ddbd3ed77df9b93

I would say in the end of this year is the US-Release.
Why they release it with other tracks for every country I can't say.
It's MARKETING that is one thing we all must not understand.

The same with Trainz/UTC/TRS2004 - for me the same with new functions. TRS2004 was my last game, since June 2005 I wait for the KRS.

P.S. I will go and say "The last man kill the light" in the German Trainz Forum. The delete the last thread over Rail Simulator.
On Oktober the 5th I will become my copy with Amazon.
Sorry for my bad english see you in KRS-Forums too.

Then you aren't reading nearly enough.

Good luck with that. Although the grass always appears greener on the other side, I feel you'll find that it is pretty much the same when you get there.

KRS appears to me to be TRS with bigger texture maps on the rolling stock. I remain to be persuaded that is not the case, perhaps I will, perhaps I won't. I do feel some people are going to be dissapointed that their 'perfect sim' turns out not to be what they thought it would.

Kuju and EA's support for the product has been patchy already to my eyes, what is it going to be like once they've got your money?

Mike.

Im hoping EA's involvment is going to be limited.
BF2, now has patches near 600mb
C&C3, is on its 8th patch since June's release.
Both are prime EA titles, please, please EA, for all of humanity, make this one game right, with limited bugs.

Sam

Mike without the game in hand all is speculation for the most part. I was impressed by the steam sounds and particle effect in the recent KRS videos. It looks like they are on the right track right from the start. Maybe TC3 will fix some of the worst that Auran has dumped on steam enthusiasts for over 4 years now but it's all hype at the moment too.

Agreed,all hype and speculation.

Are these the impressive steam effects?, great big fluffly clouds of cotton wool above stationary locos.

Mike, you really made me laugh on this part. :hehe: :hehe:
Happy to brighten your day.

I make no comparisons with other software companies here (somewhat closer to home on this forum), which is what I believe you are alluding to.

I simply go by the stop/start, hit and miss approach to their interaction on what was supposed to be their official forum.

Mike.

Not particularly Mike,8-) but they're not much worse than we get from some (not all) content creators in Trainz. But the big thing for me was the sound. Auran got it wrong 4 years ago and hasn't fixed it yet. It was designed to be wrong by ignorance, expediency or whatever so it isn't technically a bug but it's still wrong and 4 years is a long time to get around to fixing it.

It's an Apple QuickTime file. You can download the QuickTime player for Window XP or Vista free of charge from here, either with or without iTunes.

John

If you want apple's viral infection on your computer. Don't be surprised when it takes over playing lots of other things you don't want it to. It's a crappy, outdated format that isn't used by any technologically advanced outfit.

Of course, if you've gotta view it, you might as well use this: http://www.codecguide.com/qt_lite.htm
No Crapple junk included.

Always good to see a fair, unbiased view ......

Anyone got one?

Here's something else to giggle about.

Another week comes and goes, forum members finding screenshots that should be coming from the PR machine,a complete blackout from Kuju,i would'nt call this normal from a product due out in less than a month.

Like most on these forums ive been following this project since it was announced, and id say its had massive support from this community, many making the decision to buy on very little-one video and a handfull of screenshots.Ive never experianced this behavior before, the reluctance to show a product nearing completion only fuels the fire as to many doubts i have.

Im glad its out in less than 1 month,i dont know how much longer i could have kept this up,checking forums countless times a day on the off chance Kuju might post something new.Maybe we'll hear something next week,or maybe we wont.

Never had any problems with Quicktime. Preventing it from taking over "playing lots of other things you don't want it to" is simply a case of choosing the file associations during installation, like with every other media player.
