Kingston & Pembroke Railway

The Kingston & Pembroke Railway was a line that went from Kingston, Ontario, north to Renfrew, Ontario from 1878 to roughly 1959(the sections between Tichborne and Kingston operated until 1986). In 1912 the line was leased to the Canadian Pacific Railway for 999 years, and coincidentally it never reached Pembroke, as another railroad had built a line from Ottawa to Pembroke before the K&P was completed.

This route is a tribute to my late grandfather, who was a Trainman and later Conductor on the line for CP, and whose book and memory inspired me to complete this project. This layout will run from Kingston's Inner Station to Renfrew, the full length of it's line. It is set in the mid to late 1950's, allowing for both steam and diesel operation towards the end of the 50's (eg '57-'59). The line is mostly single tracked, with a speed limit of 30mph it's entire length.
