For me, the greatest reward for any pledge I make will simply be seeing the additional funds raised used to develop a superior product with "all the bells and whistles" so-to-speak.
I'm not at all interested in trinkets, hatchets and beads.
So, if I donate AU$150 or more, to show my support for the project and encourage the team to deliver the best possible PC-based railway simulator, I simply want to be kept regularly informed of the progress being made towards the delivery of the retail version of T2 in December 2014 (and consulted occasionally about possible development option (branch) alternatives in the meantime.)
For that level of pledge and above you should reasonably expect to receive an early copy of the final outcome as part of your reward, but I do not want the guys at N3V to lose sight of the end goal of delivering the most immersive and compelling version of Trainz Simulator yet by getting too tied up with the logistics of delivering a panoply of trinkets, hatchets and beads!
I am already familiar with extremely successful crowd-funded projects (like Chris Roberts' "Star Citizen", for example, which in just one year has raised over US$26 million as of yesterday from excited fans) and see this as being a legitimate and intelligent way for game developers to produce the next-generation of their "great work" independent of the stultifying influence of traditional publishers/ bankers - and to target what their fans REALLY want.
In terms of Options A, B, C or D, my focus is on the recreation of real-world physics and visual believability, so Option C is highest on my list, followed by B. I reckon I can manage A and D well enough in TS12 Surveyor now with careful design and the existing tools.
Of course, if we all get behind this kickstarter initiative and support Graham, Tony and the development team, we'll be able to achieve the second two options - and E, F, G, etc. stretch goals soon enough!
