JointedRail stuff [screenshots/renders]

That is correct. It's a small difference, but it's what separates the 'C4 from other Evos. It can be seen in this picture of BNSF ES44C4 #8122. There is a small 'rocker' above the center axle, connected to two air cylinders. This is part of a computer program developed by GE that raises and lowers the center axle on or off the track. The center axle is raised off the track when the train starts moving, which moves the weight of the locomotive that the center axle carried to the two powered axles, increasing the pulling power. Once the train is up and going, the center axle is lowered by onto the rails. I would post a picture of FEC ES44C4's, but the trucks are black, which would make it harder to see the mechanism on them.

So your point is kind of invalid considering JR could easily mod it with little to no work and sell it as a 44C4...

That rusty looking GP9 thing is amazing Wearsprada

Wow! :P

@22Alpha

Is there a way you could please reduce the file size of your images as 7.92MB each is way too much for my 3G modem with 1GB monthly cap atm.... :(

Thanks.

We really aren't too worried about image sizes. The guys post them as they see fit, we have plenty more to do than check for image sizes.

Thanks.

Mike

This may sound stupid, but I do not know what you mean by this. Anyway, this discussion began when djtrackmasta suggested an FEC ES44AC or DC. I was correcting him about what EVO model FEC owns, as they don't own ES44AC's nor ES44DC's, but ES44C4's.

And the C4s are, for all intensive purposes, identical to the current ES44s that JR have and could repaint. So yes, they could skin a ES44DC into a ES44C4 and it would be prototypical. That's what I meant.

FYI to those who don't know. There are zero differences between ES44C4 and other ES44's. They use the same styling. The number of traction motors, and drive axles are what is different. It would be really easy to do one, because there would be zero skinning invovled, I've made one myself by simply downloading the ES44C4 enginespec from n8phu off the DLS, and applying them to the ES44 from JR, and simply finding the running numbers for the models. Takes about 10 mins to do really.

We're not skinning or doing anything else with the current GEVO models. They are dated and Justin isn't happy with them any longer. These will be totally rebuilt including trucks and cabs in the future.

Thanks

Mike
