Might think about "patched" versions of these. As if they were bought from another road but didn't have time to be painted properly. C40-8 could be one of the early purchases and have and "older" or "patched" version paint job. The SD40-2 could be and SD40-3 with a rebuilt engine from CAT or ???; that would justify a new/fresh paint scheme.

Could you make one without the roof? Some railroads added sides to their bilevels (but not roofs) in the 60's to prevent vandalism. The bilevel will be a welcome addition to my arsenal of JR content!
