JointedRail stuff [screenshots/renders]

Steam looks incredibly difficult to properly model compared to diesels. All those extra visible moving parts and the complexities of the cab alone make it confusing. Plus I bet it's more difficult to obtain reference material for a lot of those steam locomotives that aren't preserved and even some that are. Looking at the Big Boy render you can see how detailed it is already, but reference back to an image and just see how much further it has to go.

Hit the nail on the head! Just a litttttttle more complex than the diesels. If i remember correctly theres one sitting in Steamtown so it wouldnt take too much for me to make a reference trip.

I think the only steam locomotive I'd really want to see is ATSF 3751. There is already a very nice UP 844 on the DLS. Or somewhere..........

yep its right, there one over there. one time a year they fired it up. btw its true its a liiiiiiittttttttllllllleeeeeee harder to do the steam engines then Diesiel... knocking my head on my Hudson H1B :P

Google chrome also has an automatic translator built in. :o
... And don't they have a section for English speaking users as well?

Reguardless, with a multinational community, you are going to end up learning the word for download in mannnnny different languages, as well as some general transit terms.... The more you know!

cheers,

LOL, the Latin languages aren't such a big deal. Heck, some of the words are really close, too. The Russian and Chinese sites, now, they don't even use the same alphabet!!!!

There's a Firefox add-on that will use Google Translate too, if you aren't a Chrome person.

This is what I meant about the World of Trainz version of the cab. Also the ditchlight control button:

This is World of Trainz's setup of the interior. Just to show the differences between the two? I was asking if there's a chance you could somehow look at this. Not saying do it, but just consider it. Food for the brain, that's all. I like this configuration personally. Don't know how close to a real life prototype this is but here you go.

When JR is making our cabs were not comparing them to Phil C's, were comparing them to prototype. We don't use other creators items as a baseline as that wouldnt be appropriate nor do we know that it is 100% correct.

The configuration we will go with is the one that is correct, enough said. Theres a reason there is 5 different cabs to do for the Dash 9 series. As said in a previous post on this subject, we don't need advising on Phil C's cabs vs how you want ours to be.

I can appreciate you liking the WOT’s cab view but it’s not for me. I liked it when I had TS06 but now I think it looks too much like a cartoon and when a train went by you could see over the other train like it was smaller than the cab you were in. I love the way JR’s cabs look on the SD70 & 80mac and from the screen shots I think the GE cabs are going to look just as good or if not better.

I can't believe you're looking at both of those cabs and nitpicking about a button that might not even be prototypical.

I'm not nitpicking. I was just clarifying a previous statement. I'm not here to compare or say what I want. Like I said, it was just food for the brain. It doesn't matter to me what they do. I just want to see more JR content and custom cabs.

Don’t you leave for basic today? I’m sure once you get back there will be some dash 8’s and 9’s ready.
