JointedRail stuff [screenshots/renders]

I was wondering,,

Is there a cab coming out for the ... the.... the.... Amtrak P32-8BWH ?

I know ProTrainz or WOT has one,
I was just currious, Like... It would be so cool...
Same with the F40PH?

Requesting this locomotive from JR:

Justin, do you think you can do it?

Now where douse it say that? The only thing that comes close is the Short line initials on some pre-made skins if it is still offered by JR.
That may work for you to get what YOU want by paying creators to make things for you but that is not the way it will always work.
Things like this is what starts into spaming of can you make this or that by anyone and everyone, which is annoying and can get very old very fast. Why do you think I do not make anything for you? I feel sorry for the creators that have this annoyance from miss drawn up conclusions from posts like this.

Sorry if this is way off topic, I just can not stand seeing other fellow creators get more slop added to their plates than necessary.

Here is where it says that. Oh yeah, and here too. Google is your friend.

now what I was saying StealthSteam is that I asked JointedRail how much for a high hood N&W SD45 with the mesh alterations that it needed, and they wanted $40.
It was a reasonable price, but I did not have the money at the time, BUT, comissions can be done, if you name the right price to the original creator.

LOL.. Is it really that hard? It looks like either an SD40-2T or and SD45-2T with SD60M or SD70M/MAC cab.... I mean how hard can that be to make?

Of course you don't understand, since you just rip off other people's content and slap your name on it. Even reskinning and other improvements take a lot of work, let alone building a model and mapping the textures.

Most loco builders will say it takes a couple hundred hours to make an engine. I don't know if that's for steam or diesel, but let's say 200 hours to keep the numbers simple. Current minimum wage, I believe, is $7.25 an hour. So, to make a loco, from start to finish, would cost about $1,450. I don't know about you, but most people don't work for minimum wage.

I can believe even a diesel takes 100+ hours. It took me 4 hours just to make my plate girder bridge sides in Blender. It took about that many to make the various incarnations of my Philly rowhouses. They are also a lot less complicated than a locomotive.

that isn't necessarily what it says. i probably wouldnt take a commission for that test car for several reasons.

one would be it would take too much time to be profitable. by this i dont mean that it wont make tons of $, but that it would take time away from the many way more important projects i am working on, and unless i was bored (and im not) i wouldnt even consider it.

this is not a locomotive. this thing and a few freight cars maybe are pushed by a working loco, let go on the fly and crashed into things to test the impact on the cab safety designs. you wouldnt be able to do that in trainz, so what is the point. it would be little more than an interesting scenery detail.

there would be very little interest in this aside from the original commission, so taking into account the first point, it would cost a lot to do simply because i have no interest in doing it and it is a waste of time, so that would have to be made up somewhere.

sorry if you think that sounds harsh, or you hate payware, or you think i leave breadcrumbs spread about in my spare time.

yes we do accept some work of this type, but only if it is within reason. also nobody gets everything moved out of the way just for them, there may be others with requests too. we get loads of commission requests that simply dont make sense, and it is usually those we put the big price tag on.

LOL, just pointing him to where it says that you guys do take commissions. Not trying to imply that you would do it.;)

I'll be the first to say that I was dead set against payware when I started using Trainz......of course before I downloaded some of your freebies, saw the awesomeness, and have bought nearly all of your Conrail stuff.:hehe:

I think Trainz is great, and there is plenty of great content available for free. If someone doesn't want to pay for "top of the line" there is plenty of great free stuff available to them, including stuff that you guys so generously make available. My opinion is, if you want something that isn't available, make it yourself. If you can't make it yourself, ask someone else to make it for you- maybe they will, maybe they'll charge you. If nobody else will make it fo you, learn to make it yourself.Hell, I learned to do my own reskinning because what I wanted was not available. Two nights ago, I wanted to make something with something that I couldn't reskin, so I learned how to make a simple mesh in gMax and made something that was completely mine- I don't need to ask anyone's permission to do whatever I want with it.I truly appreciate the stuff you guys kindly give away. Whether Jointed Rail is a full-time occupation for you or whether you just make a supplement to your full-time job, there is nothing wrong with making some money for what you do. You guys put a lot of time and effort into what you have made and you deserve the compensation.

For me, I would be happy with a simple reskin of the KCS SD70MAC into a TFM SD70MAC, Now, there are two sad sides here, #1 I dont have the KCS SD70MAC, and #2 I at the moment, dont have the money to have it commisioned...

Well, let me get in on this commission thing while it's still a topic here. I had no problem paying for one of CloakedGhost SD70Mac's So I sure would pay for one of these. No Problem.
