Issue With Trainz Plus

Hey guys,

I've just purchased Trainz Plus Gold Edition, and every time I open Trainz, it resets all of my settings, screen res, Trainz login, graphics quality, and even my install path. I've tried downloading several times, but nothing seems to be working. Does anyone know what might be happening here?

Sounds like a faulty install.

But before you delete and reinstall does starting the program in Administrator Mode make a difference?
 
Hi there @pware thank you! It seems to work when I run as admin, but some of my setting still move around, and not all of my content is there. Maybe a database repair for the content issue? Thanks!
 
If you didn't do an EDBR (Extended Database Repair) yet you might try. Takes longer than normal but more thorough.
Almost the same as regular - Open Developer Menu - Hold down Ctrl Key and Select - Rebuild Database. I would shutdown Trainz afterwords and start back up.
In a pinch I have made backups of any cache file in the Trainz Data folder, put them elsewhere for safekeeping and then deleted those same cache files from the Trainz Data folder and then started Trainz back up.

That, unfortunately, didn't seem to work either. Maybe it is a faulty install. But I've tried to reinstall Trainz a few times, and it keeps doing the same thing. I'm kind of stumped......
 
If you go into Content Manager do you show any faulty assets? If you go into Dev area of main menu on far right - Are you set for Maximize Compatibility? What Operating System does your computer use? Machine Specs?
 
Hey @sultan1966 there are quite a few faulty assets. Max compatibility is on as well. My OS is Windows 11, machine specs are as follows:

Intel i5 Processor
RTX 4070ti Super
24 GB RAM

Machine Specs and OS are fine. Assuming plenty of HD/SSD space is left. It's up to you but if you are just starting and you have faulty assets you might get rid of them although I don't think that's what the problem is. The EDBR would have found them and listed even more than there was to begin with. With them gone it just helps troubleshoot your main issue. Your call. If you do Shutdown and Start back up. Just acknowledging but you are logged into Trainz and if you go to Content Store it does show you logged in correct?
 
Thank you! I’m logged in when in the content store also. I think maybe they sent me a faulty install file perhaps?
 
Plus is not an upgrade, it is a separate install of TRS22. You have to install the Plus version for the gold subscription. You may have multiple build folders on your C drive because you create a new build folder every time you re-install. These don't get deleted when you uninstall Trainz.
You said in post 1 that all the settings are changed, the settings will default on a new install, and every time you re-install you create a new path. If you are talking about content you had before your subscription, that remains with the old TRS22 install, it does not transfer to the new install automatically.
 
Yea it’s weird. It’s not just every new install, it’s whenever I restart Trainz plus. All the settings reset and my file path resets also.
 
What download do you choose?

I've had better luck with the full download and not the online installer. The full download is a zipped 9 GB file and is the same data that gets downloaded via the online installer only it's in one file instead of dribbled down. It could be there's a glitch that ate the download.
 
Hi @JCitron I’ve actually tried both. I tried the offline one first.
Interesting... It's gotta be something stupid like it usually is and we'll chock this one up for the books.

Have you contacted the helpdesk? Someone else mentioned a corrupted download by the helpdesk for an issue they've had.

Now, if you've had both copies doing this, I wonder if there's some file corruption not caused by the download, although that is possible too.
